A healthy Subway lunch was provided for all 47 participants! No fasting was required while they checked Height, Weight, BMI (ugh), Waist Circumference, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, HDL & Glucose to be sure we re within a healthy range. Immediately following our exam we met with a counselor who provided our personal results and suggestions to improve, if needed. Those who fell short of the healthy range were encouraged to make a few adjustments and strive for better results next year. Here s to staying healthy & happy! 2 PAGE 2 A Select Distinguished Club By Melanie Nordgran Congratulations to our Atlas Olelo Hui Toastmasters Club for achieving Select Distinguished Club status for the July 2012 June 2013 Toastmaster Year!! The Distinguished Club program is designed to challenge Clubs to effectively help members become better speakers and leaders by providing 10 goals to strive for over the course of the year. If a Club reaches 5 of these goals, they are recognized as a Distinguished Club. Atlas Olelo Hui received Distinguished Club status in the July June 2012 Toastmaster Year. This year we have achieved 7 of the 10 goals to earn Select Distinguished Club! Our Club has achieved the following goals over the past year: Two Competent Communicators (Completed the first 10 Toastmaster speeches) Sharilyn Tanaka and Gie Velasco One Competent Leader (Completed 10 Leadership Projects) Martin Beardeaux One More Competent Leader Melanie Nordgran Four New Members 3 from Island and our own Lynette Sang Four More New Members 2 from Island and our own Lisa Konno and Aleksandr Razloga Minimum of Four Club Officers trained during each of two training periods Achieved all 7 officers trained during each period One membership dues renewal report and one club officer list submitted on time We would also like to recognize our outgoing and incoming Board Members. 3 PAGE 3 Farmer s Market With Chef Conrad Aquino By Bonnie Pang The Atlas HEART Committee was proud to feature Executive Chef Conrad Aquino of Turtle Bay Resort located on Hawaii's fabled North Shore, at our monthly Farmer's Market event held on June 20. Atlas employees enjoyed a fresh selection of four delicious salads prepared by Chef Aquino - - Seared Ahi Salad on Baby Romaine with Quinoa - Kim Chee Marinated Steak Salad with Chinese Vegetables - Beet and Kale Salad - Strawberry and Orange Salad Chef Aquino joined Turtle Bay Resort in November Born and raised in Liliha, Chef Aquino received his Culinary Arts degree from Kapiolani Community College. After graduating, he traveled through Europe and Hawaii to develop his culinary experience. His hospitality experience includes restaurants in England, and locally at the Royal Hawaiian, the Kahala Hotel and Resort, and most recently the Maui Sheraton Hotel where he was the Executive Sous Chef. Chef Aquino's profile is best described as farm to table, home cooking local style. He says that if you cook from the heart you can never go wrong. Chef Aquino recently introduced new and exciting menus for the resorts signature restaurants, North Shore Kula Grille and Pa akai. Chef Aquino incorporates ingredients from local farmers and purveyors. The four salads which he prepared exclusively for Atlas employees used produce provided by Otsuji Farms. We hope to see you at the next farmer's market which occurs the third Thursday each month from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Atlas lunchroom.

4 PAGE 4 New Business Agents Commercial Personal Gerald Takeuchi Wayne Kinoshita AOAO At The Hawaiiana Meet & Greet By Ron Tsukamaki This picture is of the Atlas table at the June Hawaiiana Meet and Greet event that was held at the Blaisdell Exhibition Center. Hawaiian Management Company hosts this event so their 700 condominium association clients can meet various vendors who have products and services for Condominium Associations. The board members, resident managers and property managers are invited to this event. Thanks goes to Amanda, Mike and Josh who manned the table for the 4 hour event from 3 pm - 7 pm. The guest is Al Pattison, Executive VP of Hawaiiana. We had great prizes and it gave Atlas great visibility among the 900 Condo board members and property managers who attended. This is the 5 th year that Atlas has participated and been a Silver Sponsor. As a result of our participation, we anticipate working on 3 new prospects while reacquainting ourselves with several of our AOAO clients with Hawaiiana.

5 PAGE 5 Welcome Fe Torres By Sharilyn Tanaka At first glance the term don t judge a book by its cover comes to mind when you meet Fe. One might think she s the quiet, shy type but there is much more than what meets the eye within her small 5 foot frame. Fe is originally from Isabella, Philippines & moved to Hawaii in Her parents & 2 siblings also live here in Waipahu. She has 3 other siblings still in the Philippines but they are all very close. 5 years after meeting her husband, Dennis, they were married this past January. She spends most of her evenings watching HGTV & the Food Network. She enjoys cooking mostly Filipino food & spending time with her family. She also enjoys traveling & has already been back to the Philippines twice since she s been here. What other destination has she visited in the States? Nevada of course! Vegas has become one of her favorite vacation spots. Before getting into insurance 4 years ago, she supervised a Product Development Team that created electronics for companies like Intel. Fe has an extensive background in engineering with a degree in chemical engineering in the Philippines. Say hello when you see her. You might be surprised at where the conversation takes you. Welcome Allison Horimoto By Lance Kawano Allison Horimoto joined Atlas as an Account Manager in the Personal Lines House Group. Allison worked for numerous years at GEICO as a Customer Service Supervisor. We look forward to benefitting from Allison s knowledge and experience working with our sophisticated competitor. While her prior employer is a tough competitor, we appreciate their hiring and training skills as Allison will become our third great employee from GEICO. Allison is an expert baker, so Personal Lines is now the front runner for all of the baking / food related contests. Please welcome Allison to the Atlas Ohana.
