2 A word from the president: Welcome to Green Tree Country Club for the March 2013 meeting of the Permian Basin AADE Chapter. As always, we appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to attend this meeting, especially during the spring break holiday. Your participation and attendance at chapter functions is very much appreciated, and a great way to network with industry professionals from all facets of the business. Our February meeting with Richard Spears was a very interesting meeting. Spears and Associates did an excellent job analyzing business trends and statistics. We appreciate Mr. Spears coming in and presenting. This month s meeting should also prove to be very entertaining. Mr. Steve Wilson, Senior Technology Advisor for Geomechanics in Apache s Exploration and Production Technology Group in Houston will discuss Borehole Stability in Horizontal Wells in the Permian Basin The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. This is a very interesting and pertinent discussion for not only Apache, but for several other operators drilling horizontal shale wells throughout the Permian Basin. Steve has over 30 years experience in petroleum Geomechanics related to drilling and completion design. He has over 40 publications in the SPE and other peer reviewed literature. In , he was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer. We appreciate Steve taking the time to come and speak with us. Again, thanks for attending and enjoy the meeting.
