2 A word from the president: Welcome to Green Tree Country Club for the April 2013 meeting of the Permian Basin Chapter of the American Association of Drilling Engineers. As always, we appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to attend this meeting. Your participation and attendance at chapter functions are very much appreciated, and a great way to network with industry professionals from all facets of the business. Activity in the Permian Basin continues at a high level, and I am sure that you are all very busy. We should all count our blessings and be very thankful that we live and work in this area. As you drive around town, you will notice license plates from numerous states, which shows that lots of people have come to this area to find jobs. What they will find, as most of you already know, is that the Midland/Odessa area is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We are a close-knit oilfield community, not afraid to help each other out if necessary. I am proud to call Midland home. This month s speaker will be Nick Seymour, with Schlumberger DT&R. He will be presenting Open Hole Bit to Whip Systems. This looks to be a very timely and interesting topic. I would like to ask the membership to let us know of any particular topic that you would like to see discussed and/or presented at one of our regular meetings. We should be able to find someone to address that issue. Again, thanks for attending and enjoy the meeting.
