5 The LPS February Evening Lecture Tuesday 2 nd Feb 2016, 6:30pm Title: Formation Evaluation behind Casing Technology and Case Studies Speaker: Michel Claverie This talk will introduce the technology available for performing detailed formation evaluation behind casing with resistivity, bulk density, neutron porosity, and natural and induced gamma-ray spectroscopy. Case studies will describe the evaluation of old wells offshore Congo, NMR logging in glass reinforced epoxy casing in Oman, and the detailed mineralogy and fluids evaluation of a new well in North Africa. 5

6 The LPS March Evening Lecture Tuesday 30th March 2016, 6:30pm Determination of Wettability from Magnetic Resonance Relaxation and Diffusion Measurements on Fresh-State Cores Speaker: Chanh Cao Minh Schlumberger Fellow and the Director of Measurements Reservoir wettability is a critical parameter affecting hydrocarbon distribution within the reservoir rocks and its recovery. The sensitivity of NMR responses to rock wettability has been demonstrated in a number of publications. Wettability changes may be noticed on logging measurements as a downward shift of the oil peak in the T 2 spectrum from the bulk T 2 response of live oils. The main practical obstacle in the T 2 shiftbased evaluation of wettability is the poor separation of oil and water peaks in the T 2 spectrum. The bulk T 2 of live oils must also be measured, which is a difficult task, and the core sample must be perfectly cleaned to quantify the NMR surface relaxation effect. We demonstrate an improved method based on two-dimensional mapping of NMR diffusion vs. T 2 (2D map) 6
