This is a busy season for the Emerald Guild and it is an important time of year for our organization as we celebrate our Irish culture and hospitality with our families and many of our friends in the real estate industry. With that in mind, I would remind you that we have many events over the next week which we look forward to seeing you all at, and, I would like to thank all of those members who have dedicated their time and efforts to making these events a success. It is also the time of the year when we recognize members for their outstanding Contribution to the Guild. This year we honor our member of the year, Seamus Burke, on an award well deserved. We also honor Michael Gubbins, who will be our Grand Marshal, and will be leading us up 5 th Avenue. for the St. Patrick s Day Parade. Over the past years we have won the St. Patrick s Day Parade Fraternal Organization Best Marching Unit, and it would be nice to win it again this year. We hope you can join us on 5 th Avenue. I would to thank my Officers, Board Members, Trustees and Committee chairmen for all their hard work over the last year and I look forward to working with them next year. 2 Seven new members sworn into the Emerald Guild on January 12 Signifies how the Guild continues to build in. Barry Riordan swore in the seven and talked about having a passion and Love for an organization. The Educational feature at the January meeting was an informative insight on Customer Service. 32BJ education have classes on Customer Service and will come to do an on-site class if you have more than 10 staff who wish to polish their skills. 3 Member Of The Year 2015 Seamus Burke was born in Ireland and emigrated with his family from Ballymahon, County Longford to New York when he was just a young boy. He has continued to honor his Irish heritage through music, dance and affiliation with the Emerald Guild Society and other organizations including the AOH. The Emerald Guild Society was founded predominately to assist Irish and Irish Americans in New York with employment opportunities and advancements, and continues that tradition today. Seamus has been a member of the Emerald Guild for the past eleven years. He has proudly served as the organization s President ), Secretary ) and as a Board member ). Seamus has served on every committee. Over the course of his twenty-nine year career as Resident Manager, Seamus has worked in only two buildings. He managed 450 West End Avenue for thirteen years. For the past sixteen years Seamus has been Resident Manager at 525 East 86 th Street. He considers himself very fortunate to be part of this truly wonderful building and community. All twenty-nine years he has been with Douglas Elliman. Seamus has worked seamlessly with the Account Executive, and Vice President, Eileen Cannon, for the past thirteen years. Of all of Seamus accomplishments, none make him prouder than his marriage to the lovely Denise Mitchell and being the proud father of their two amazing children, Dylan and Kelsea.

4 Parade Grand Marshal 2015 Michael Gubbins comes from Glenosheen, on the Limerick / Cork border. He first came to the USA as a college student to work during his summer holidays. He developed an early love for this country and moved here full time in 1986 when he began his career in the New York Real Estate industry in the World Financial Centre. Over the last 28 years Michael s career has gone from strength to strength and along the way, he has taken the opportunity to give back to the Irish community, to help develop their careers in the New York Real Estate arena. It has been an important goal of Michaels to support Irish business. Michael joined the Emerald Guild in 1993, and has been active member since then, including serving on many committees. He has been a great ambassador for the Guild, representing the Organization from a business and charitable perspective. He has served as a Board Member, Vice President and President. Michael was Member of the Year in 2007, and was deeply honored to have been recognized in this way by his fellow members. Michael always recognizes the impact that the Emerald Guild has had on his life, the lifetimes friendship that he has made and the strong professional guidance and support that is offered by the Guild. Michael has over twenty eight years experience in the Real Estate field, and in the the past fifteen years he has specialized in sustainable and energy efficient projects including involvement in the development and management of the Solaire, America s first green high rise LEED gold certified residential building. Michael is very active in the Real Estate Industry and he is a leader in developing relevant educational platforms and has shared much of this with the Emerald Guild. He is a valued advisor to trade unions, local and national government agencies and works closely with the USGBC. Michael holds a degree in mechanical engineering, he is LEED accredited and holds multiple NYC real estate licenses. Michael is married to Caroline and they have a son, Conor, they live at The Solaire, in Battery Park. Michael enjoys his family life and is well known for his love of sport.

6 Important Dates Monday, March 16th 7.00 pm Set Up of the Hall at Our Lady of Good Counsel at 230 E 90th St New York, NY The Emerald Guild Team will be doing the set up and decoration of the hall for the social event which will be happening on the 17th.This will begin at 7 pm. We need as many members as possible to come and help. This is always a fun evening. You are welcome to bring any members of your family who would like to come help decorate as well. In the past, a few of members have brought their children and they have been a great help. Tuesday March17th St. Patrick s Day Parade. This year we are honored to have Michael Gubbins as our Grand Marshall leading our organization up 5 th Ave. Our assembly point for this year s parade is East 46 th Street between 5 th and Madison. Our time of assembly is 2.30 pm. We are located after the New York Minor Board and ahead of Niall O Leary School of Irish Dancing. It is important that everybody is there on time. Please read below guidelines which all parties marching in the parade are requested to follow by the St. Patrick s Day organizing committee. The dress code for all marchers even leading children) is as follows: Business Attire and don t forget thermal clothing it can be a cold and long day. ALL Marshals and Officers must wear dark jackets, white shirts, dark slacks, and polished dark shoes. A tri-color sash, the lapel pin and a green carnation will be provided on the day. All Marshals will be responsible for keeping a military style formation, proper dress code for our marchers and keep any stragglers out.no baseball caps or jeans for any person marching in our group. No strollers, wagons, push carts etc for security reasons Monday, March 17thSt. Patrick s Day after Party 4pm to 9 pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel 230 E 90th St New York, NY There will be traditional Irish food and an open bar with live entertainment. The cost for adults, members, and guests is $50 per person. Children are free. We are also hoping to have set up some children s activities for the evening. The hall will be open from 4 pm onwards to serve tea, coffee, and light refreshments for people after marching in the parade. We look forward to seeing you all and your families there.
