Correspondence a) A letter regarding the Great Northern Exhibition dated April 4, 2017 inviting the NVCA Agricultural Committee to participate. The fair will be held in Collingwood the weekend of September 20-24, Presentation Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) A program that engages local agricultural producers to enhance regional environmental sustainability. Presented by Mr. Dave Reid, ALUS 6. Adjourn RESOLVED THAT: the meeting of the Agricultural Advisory Committee AAC adjourn at to meeting again on or at the call of the chair.

4 3. Meeting Notes January 18, 2017 AAC As there was no quorum, Meeting Notes (as opposed to Minutes) were taken and circulated to the Committee after the meeting for endorsement. Moved by: R. Orr Seconded by: D. deboer RES: #2 RESOLVED THAT: the Meeting Notes of the Agricultural Advisory Committee AAC be endorsed. Carried; 4. Agricultural Award List of 2016 Projects An Agricultural Award was introduced in 2016 as part of the NVCA s annual Evening of Thanks which recognizes community stakeholders and partners for their conservation efforts. This year, the event will take place on April 27 th and members of the AAC will be invited to attend. The AAC agreed that an agricultural award should be continued in 2017, for recognition of 2016 agricultural projects. The award guidelines dated January 21, 2016 were attached to the agenda for the January 18 th meeting of the AAC. A long list of 2016 projects was presented at the January Meeting, and the following five projects were shortlisted for further consideration at the March 7 th meeting. Shannon Stephens, Healthy Waters Program Coordinator provided the AAC with further details on these projects during the meeting. 5 Moved by: B. Hope Seconded by: T. Van den Hurk RES: #3 RESOLVED THAT: the following projects be awarded the 2016 Agricultural Conservation Award. (Project #4) HWP Isiaragui Project Community Plants with the Elmvale Foundation; and (Priority #5) HWP Spring Community Tree Plant with South Simcoe Streams Network Innisfil. Carried; The award winners will be invited to bring representatives from their volunteer groups to the NVCA Evening of Thanks on April 27, The position of Chair was declared vacant. Byron Wesson, Director, Lands, Education and Stewardship Services assumed the position of Chair for the election process. 5. Election of a Chair and Vice Chair for 2017 Election of Chair Ted Van den Hurk nominated Jim Partridge for the position of Chair. No further nominations were heard. Nominations were closed. Jim Partridge accepted the nomination. (It was noted that Jim Partridge has accepted the position of Chair for the short term as Colin Elliott had indicated his desire to sit as Chair. Colin was not in attendance at the meeting and could not be reached.) This will be discussed at the next meeting of the Committee. Election of Vice Chair Bernard Pope nominated Ted Van den Hurk for the position of Vice Chair. No further nominations were heard. Nomininations were closed. Ted Van den Hurk accepted the nomination. Next Meeting The next meeting to be confirmed Possible dates: June 19 th or June 20 th Presentation: Alternative Land Use Services Program (ALUS Canada) Shannon Stephens, will contact Dave Reid, Eastern Canada ALUS Hub Manager and Dr. Bill Shotyk to request a presentation on the Alternative Land Use Services program (ALUS Canada). The ALUS program is a community developed and farmer delivered program designed to sustain agriculture, wildlife and natural spaces. The program is active in six provinces to date and provides a financial incentive for producing valuable ecological services on Canadian farmland. 7. New Business NVCA Agricultural Committee Membership for 2017 Discussion regarding membership on the NVCA Agricultural Committee concluded that Ontario Farm Land Preservation and Simcoe County Soil and Crop will remain on the Committee for Adjourn Moved by: T.
