CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING(S) a) Review and Adoption of the Minutes of Regular Council held in open session dated Monday, November 17, 2014; MOVED: Joel Field SECONDED: Grant Purdy THAT the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Town of Petrolia Council from Monday, November 17, C /01/ RECOGNITIONS / AWARDS / ANNOUNCEMENTS The December and January combined edition of the Petrolia Connection is hot off the press and in the community today; December 5 th Christmas in the Park and Chili Cook Off and merchants moonlight madness sales; December 6 th Santa Claus Parade at 2:00 pm; OHDCC will be closed for annual maintenance December 3 rd & 4 th ; On Stage at Victoria Hall; o December 2 nd & 3 rd Starbright Christmas o December 12 th & 14 th VPP Christmas Jamboree o December 17 th LCCVI Christmas Concert o December 18 th Lambton Concert Band Films at Victoria Hall: o December 19 th A Christmas Story at 7:00pm o December 20 th Arthur Christmas at 2:00pm o December 29 th The Hunger Games at 7:00 pm o December 30 th Journey 2: The Mysterious Island at 2:00 pm Councillor Gleeson noted that recently members of council attended the Bluewater Health Elected Official meeting, this as a great session and well attended; Councillor Purdy noted concern over the recent closure of the Endoscopy Unit at CEE Hospital; 8. DELEGATIONS / FIRST OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC TO ADDRESS COUNCIL Lorne Given, CERV Coordinator and Committee Chair o Congratulated the new council o Mr. Given provided an overview of what CERV is and how they represent and assist the Town o Mr. Given noted that the Town Staff and Council have always responded well in a crisis situation and have developed a great working relationship o During 2014 CERV attended or participated in response: February major snow storm, assisted Wyoming PNEFD Boot Drive, door to door fundraiser for New Training Centre LCCVI Fun Run Emergency Preparedness day in Sarnia, up to 5000 people attend this event Big Bike for Heart and Stroke High School and Elementary School Track Meets Rib Fest Page 2 of 8

3 Petrolia Pizza Fest Relay for Life Petrolia Canada Day Petrolia Barn Dance Petrolia & Enniskillen Fall Fair Podolynski s 50 th Anniversary celebrations Brigden Fair Hillsdale Cemetery Tour Terry Fox Run Skate Canada Western Regional Championship o CERV works on a donation system, with no set fee, and have been very fortunate that the donations received are always generous; o In 2015 there are plans to purchase a Defibrillation Machine that is compatible with the Lambton EMS system used; Councillor Gleeson: When CERV is in attendance at events, what level of service do they provide? Mr. Given: CERV provides 1 st Aid and CPR care. Councillor Field: Thank you to Lorne and his team, a very dedicated group. Councillor Welsh: It s amazing what our Town can offer for shopping, and gifts, especially during the Christmas season. Could this be something staff looking further into regarding the age friendly grant? Mayor McCharles noted that staff has been looking into this and at the moment, the criteria has areas we can meet, but many areas we can not. Councillor Gleeson brought forward item 12 s) and noted that all of Lambton are welcome and starting the process is only a phone call away. C /01/ CORRESPONDENCE / ITEMS - MOTION REQUIRED a) Minutes of the Petrolia Heritage Advisory Committee, dated August 13, 2014; SECONDED: Grant Purdy THAT the Council of the Town of Petrolia, accept the minutes as presented C /01/ SECOND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC TO ADDRESS COUNCIL Councillor Gleeson noted that there will be a Safetalk session held on December 2 nd at 6:00pm, at the Wyoming Legion, she urged all to attend.
