This year really flew by. I was going to make this issue a year in review, but we have been so busy performing non-stop I just have too much to share to waste it Last month I performed my 24 hour magic show for charity, we performed our illusion shows at a new resort in Cambridge, MD, had a magician friend Peter Pitchford over to the house for a couple of days then he lectured at my local magic club, I performed at couple company Christmas parties, family reunions, and more This month we have a bunch of holiday parties on the books, more magic classes, and misc. private shows as well as trying to get our own holiday stuff together. Paul Hallas Sophisticated, thought provoking entertainment from Paul Hallas. Paul, a secret keeper himself, was one of the North of England s best kept secrets. (Cont) inherently funny and suddenly you are smiling or laughing yourself because he has turned all you believe in upside down and you ve just witnessed the impossible! Winner of multiple awards in the past for his entertainment skills, when not performing Paul is creating new demonstrations, writing magic books and magazine articles for magicians and mentalists or lecturing to magic clubs in this or other countries. I was lucky enough to meet Paul when he came to Lynchburg to lecture at a magic club down there. He was a great performer and the stuff in his lecture was practical and well thought out. After the lecture a few of the guys from the club and myself all went out to dinner with Paul where he impressed me even more with his magic knowledge and I loved the stories he shared from his days in England. He is not only a good magician but a great guy. This year it rained 22 out of the 24 hours and it was cold and just plain yucky. On the other hand I received great publicity; I was interviewed on the radio and I was covered by 2 local TV stations NBC and Newsplex as well as being interviewed by the local newspaper. The Children & adults all had fun! Wonderful show & just plain fun. All I saw were smiles. I told the kids we d have a magician at the party and they were so excited. 4 VOLUM E 6 I S S UE 12 T H E M A G I C & I LL U S I O N S H O W N E WS LE T T E R PAGE 4 Cambridge Maryland Trip Last month on black Friday and the following Saturday Natalie & I were asked to perform our illusion show at a resort in Cambridge, Maryland. We were excited to work a new resort and Natalie looked them up online and the place looked amazing. From home, Cambridge is a 4 hour trip without stops or traffic delays. The shows went great and management was surprised when the audience size tripled what they expected. Everyone at the resort was super professional and really nice. Since it was a holiday weekend the main people who make decisions at the resort were not working, so we didn t know if management would even know how the shows turned out. The following Monday we got a great from management saying We heard nothing but great things from staff and guests about how great the show was and that brings me to the point are you available for this and this date We really enjoy doing our big show and are so blessed to be doing this for a living Below are a few pictures from this trip: Jessica & Lana dancing while we set up the show Natalie performing with audience member A family photo in the front lobby Performing for a packed house Natalie performing her silk & dove routine Girls at the beach Magic News / David Blaine s recent special There is always a ton of footage that ends up on the cutting room floor when filming a TV special. The picture on the right comes from Instagram where David Blaine is in Will Smith s pool for about 15 minutes according to the Ipad. You can see Jaden holding him down as Willow, Jada and Will look on. Blaine s newest special titled Real or Magic was a huge hit. He performed for some of the biggest names in the world, including Jamie Foxx, Bryan Cranston, Ricky Gervais, Katy Perry, Woody Allen, & Robert DeNiro. He also ended up filming in the homes of Kanye West, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde and of course Will Smith. Blaine is riding high after this special due to the huge ratings and we will just have to see if he can keep the momentum going.

The Effect: Tell the audience to watch closely as you place a sugar packet in your hand, close your fingers, and have the sugar disappear. When you open your hand up nothing appears to happen but when you rip open the package and pour the sugar into the spectators hand it has changed into sweet n low. The Secret: A little pre-show work is needed for this one. Take a razor blade and cut open the packet as neatly as you can near the part where it has been factory sealed. Then pour out the sugar and pour in the sweet n low. The next step is to use a little bit of rubber cement to glue the package back together again. Tip: When you rip open the package rip along the slit you cut earlier and their will be no evidence that you tampered with the package at all. The best part of all, everyone is expecting you to make the whole package disappear at the beginning and by the time they figure out what really took place the evidence is completely gone.
