1 PAN-AMERICAN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 Cartagena de Indias - Colombia July 4th 8th, 2012 Confederation of Chess for Americas - CCA, Colombian Chess Federation - Fecodaz and Bolivar Chess League are pleased to invite all the National Chess Federations of the Americas, the PAN AMERICAN AMATEUR Championship 2012, which will be held from July 4th to in the beautiful Caribbean city of Cartagena de Indias, touristic, historic and cultural district, capital of the Department of Bolivar. Cartagena is located on the shores of the Caribbean sea and in 1984 was declared by the Unesco "World Heritage". Enjoy Science- Game and let yourself be surprised by "The Pearl of the Caribbean", with the friendliness of its people, centuries of history, museums, buildings that are centuries old, beautiful islands and beaches, restaurants and an active nightlife.

GENERAL CONDITIONS 2.1 The PANAMERICAN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP is a tournament that is open, each National Federation may register the chess players who want to, without FIDE title and without ELO or those whose ELO FIDE is less than 2000 points and that in the 2 previous years in the lists of the FIDE does not have a rating equal to or greater than The event is governed by the laws of chess FIDE and the regulations established by the CCA in document REGULATIONS FOR THE PANAMERICAN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. 2.3 The tournament will be played at the Claustro de las Mercedes of the University of Cartagena, located in the Walled City - Center, Cra 4 No , Cartagena de Indias, Colombia 2.4 The Tournament will be played according the Swiss system in 9 rounds, with a rate of play of 90 minutes for the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move Participants All the costs of travel and accommodation must be covered by participants or their federations. The Registration fee per player will be $US 80 (CCA tariff) plus $US 10 per registration costs and organization. These values must be canceled in Colombian pesos at the official rate of exchange, payable in the act of registration before 10 am on the 4th July, which will be received directly by the treasurers of the CCA and Fecodaz. Any participant may play without meeting this requirement. Each Federation of America has the right to register a player without the payment of the tariff of the CCA. Chess players who have right to food and lodging in charge of the organization: the amateur world champion 2012, Laura Juliana Perez of Colombia, recent winner of the world tournament played in Greece. The first two classified, in both branches of the Colombian National Amateur Championship 2012

3 In addition to this by every 15 or more players registered by a country, the organizers will provide accommodation and food, for a delegate or coach. Note: The organization recognizes in addition to previous rights, the lodging from the meal of the day July 3 until the lunch on July 8 in double or triple accommodation. People who wants simple accommodation must pay the excess. 2.6 Official hotels. The official hotel of the tournament will be the Hotel Costa del Sol, with a cost of 320 US$, for 6 days and 5 nights, from the dinner on the July 3, until the lunch on July 8 and it includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Extra night will cost 65 $US. The organization does not assume any liability for delegations not staying at this hotel. 2.7 Designation of the winners. The final classification will be determined by the highest number of points obtained. In the event of a tie in the first place this would be defined using strict order in the following systems: (a). Outcome of the game, if applied b) Progressive, c). Progressive score cuts, d). Bucholz. To decide on the other positions will be used the same systems, but starting with the item b). 2.8 Awards. For the purpose of the awards shall be considered the absolute and female branches, dedicating the first three places in each genre titles of Champion, runner-up and third place Pan-american for Each of these winners will receive a trophy. Prizes are not cumulative. In case of obtaining two awards, will be awarded the one of greater value, then the female, by age, by rating and by general classification, while respecting the criteria mentioned. The cash prizes from 1 st to 7 th are divided in the event of a tie, the awards will only be delivered if there is more than 5 players per category and are applied once made the tiebreaks of the Absolute Swiss Tournament.
