1 . Houston Photochrome Club Volume MMXVII No. 3 March March Meeting Program Presentation Jim Stevenson will be presenting a program on bird photography in the field at our March 9th program Jim Stevenson is Director of the Galveston Ornithological Society, and a professional bird guide. Raised by an ornithologist, he has been birding 60 years, having traveled all over the world and seen almost 7000 species of birds. His graduate work was conducted on bird migration in the Gulf States, which eventually led him to reside in Galveston. Jim has had eight books published, and also publishes nature newspapers. His position with the GOS allows him to promote conservation, be involved in public environmental education and conduct scientific research. The meeting will 7:00P.M. at the Tracy Gee Community Center, 3599 Westcenter Drive, which is one block inside Beltway 8 between Westpark and Richmond. Need your Input Do you know or have you heard someone that could be a potential speaker for our club in the coming year? If so please tell Stephanie Rudd at: rudd77024@gmail.com She will appreciate any clues you can give her. 1 SPRING FLOWER ALERT!! Yep! The flowers are starting to bloom.on a weekend run up to north Texas, there were lots of pretty yellow composites and yellow mustard along the highway. I managed to find a few bluebonnets and some paintbrush nestled among the yellow ones, so they will not be far behind. Also be aware there is a new tulip farm at Point Pilot near Whitesboro. The flowers are lovely and the admission is only $3. You can photograph til your heart s continent, even pick some of the blooms. Careful though...the charge is $2.50 per stem, but there were folks with large baskets of flowers checking out. The best blooms will most likely be in the next week or 2 and are done by April 1. Website: texas-tulips.com Carmen Deadline for digital submission All digital entries must be sent to Philip Tan ptchromer@gmail.com by March 4 Entries received after that will not be eligible for March Competition FYI the deadline is always the Saturday before the competition meeting.
