4 Cloth Painting This is normally quite good fun for the cubs to complete, though can be extremely expensive to set up for smaller packs. Within the workshop there is squares of cloth provided, but the cubs will enjoy it far more if they have chance to paint T-Shirts, handkerchiefs or pillow cases. Whilst working on the base think about whether you like the pens, or would the paint be enough? 5 Toast painting A different activity which could be used as part of a sleepover. Paint the bread, and then toast. 6 Decoupage Boxes This is a technique of covering boxes with small pieces of coloured paper in a mosaic form. Over the years this has though changed to include a whole range of other products used to cover the box. Before doing this, think about the size of the boxes you are using. Are they too small or too large for the cubs to use? Would you need to buy bigger ones, or could you use old boxes, or make your own box from the net below? This will make a box, though will need to be increased in size to make a box larger than those which you are using. 8 Foam Shapes and Glitter Things to think about when working at this table. What is the difference between using PVA glue and glitter, and the glitter glue? 9 Face Paint- Mehndi Designs When completing this task, always check that the cubs are not allergic to face paints. If they are on their face, they might not be on the hands, so check with parents first. The sheets allow the children to practice first, before then copying on their hands. There are a variety of different face paints to use on their hands and faces. Face paint tubes Have to be careful in hot temperatures, and can be hard to get off clothing, especially blue. Face paint pencils Really good to use, quick and mess free..ish. Need to remember to have a eyeliner sharpener around, as normal sharpeners do not work. Face paint blocks These are really easy to use, but will need to use new brushes and sponges. Brushes will also need to be quite high quality to work. Can become messy when being used by the children, if left to work by themselves. Also can be very expensive. 10 Plaster Casting Plaster casts can be made out of whole variety of different products, as long as they are hard. Placing cling film over the item which is going to be cast will help to loosen the clay, and keep the product clean. The Scarab beetles are good to cast as they have extra embossed details, they are relatively unbreakable, and quite small. When mixing the plaster, do not mix in too much water as this will mean the plaster will never set. The plaster does not dry out, the plaster reacts with the water, in a chemical reaction. Also do not mix the plaster to early as it will set in the cup. On average the plaster will set within 20 minutes of being mixed, though will take longer if the atmosphere is cold.
