12 Brainstormed ideas decided on Democracy Began preliminary research Search Terms: democracy started scanned websites Skipped over wikis and ask and prezi Found BBC,.gr, The Guardian, History.com,.org Read through the websites, copying information into a Word document that I might need: Basic content to help me form ideas for the writing piece Dates for the timeline Locations for the map Images of how it changed Documented sources with the information
13 Beware Not every date you read pertains to the diffusion of the innovation and can be used for your timeline (example for me: oligarchy during Peloponnesian War, then democracy again in Greece) Always check the source of anything you find including images! Don t just trust the search engine! Be careful of bird-walking (losing your focus in your research)! Remember research how it was started/invented (innovation), how it was spread (diffusion), and the ways other cultures made it their own (acculturation)!
