3 T-72 TANK: STAGE 28 THE SECOND STOWAGE PANNIER AND TRACK With this stage, you receive the second stowage pannier, another road wheel and parts, and more treads and pins. You will be fitting the pannier to the hull and the new treads to the track assembly. PARTS 1. Road wheel inner 2. Road wheel outer 3. Suspension arm 4. Washer 5. Split washer 6. Nut 7. Wheel cap 8. Screws (2 pcs) 67 1 In this stage, along with the second stowage pannier, the screws, and the treads and pins, you will need a small hammer, a screwdriver, a wooden board, the track section from Stage 27, and the hull. 2 Align the posts on the underside of the pannier with the two corresponding holes in the hull.

4 3 Push the pannier into place. 4 Turn the hull over, holding the pannier in place, and insert a screw into the circled hole. 5 Tighten the screw into place. 6 Insert the second screw into the circled hole behind the first. 7 Tighten the screw into the hole. 8 Assemble the five new treads to create a track section. Align this new section with the end of your track assembly. 9 Push the pin through the aligned holes to join the two sections together. 10 Place the track on its side, and hammer the pins into place. 11 This stage is now complete. 68

5 T-72 TANK: STAGE 29 THE RIGHT SKIRT With this stage, you receive the two left skirts, which will be mounted on the left side of the hull, plus three rollers, a bracket, and more pins and treads. You will be fitting the two right skirts from Stage 10 to the hull. PARTS Left front skirt Left rear skirt Washer screws (9 pcs) Bracket Rollers (3 pcs) Treads (5 pcs) Pins (5 pcs) 1 69 For this stage, you will need the hull, the two right skirts, screws and a screwdriver.

6 2 Before starting, tap the holes in the posts on the inside of the two right skirt pieces. 3 Take the right rear skirt and align the three posts on the inside with the three corresponding holes in the external fuel tank (circled). 4 Push the posts of the skirt into the holes, then insert a washer screw into each hole from the inside of the hull. 5 Tighten the three screws into place. 6 Align the two posts in the right front skirt with the two corresponding holes in the external fuel tanks, and the two tabs (circled) with the matching recesses in the front of the right rear skirt. 7 Push the front skirt into place. Make sure that the two tabs at the rear engage with the matching recesses. 8 Insert a washer screw into both holes from the inside of the hull. 9 Tighten the screws into place This stage is now complete.

7 T-72 TANK: STAGE 30 THE THIRD STOWAGE PANNIER AND TRACK With this stage, you receive another road wheel, some more treads and pins, and the third stowage pannier. You will be fitting the pannier and the new treads. PARTS 1. Road wheel inner 2. Road wheel outer 3. Suspension arm 4. Washer 5. Split washer 6. Nut 7. Wheel cap 8. Axle bolt 9. Washer screw 10. Spring 11. Treads (5 pcs) 12. Pins (5 pcs) 13. Screws (2 pcs) 14. Third stowage pannier 1 71 In this stage, along with the third stowage pannier, the screws, and the treads and pins, you will need a small hammer, a screwdriver, a wooden board, the track section from Stage 28, and the hull.

8 2 Take the third stowage pannier and align the three posts with the three holes in the hull. 3 Test-fit the posts on the pannier into the holes in the hull. 4 Press the pannier into place. 5 Only two of the posts go all the way through the hull. Tighten a screw into each of them to secure the pannier. 6 Engage two treads and insert one of the pins through the aligned holes. 7 Lightly hammer the pin into place. 8 Repeat this process with the remaining pins and treads. 9 Attach the new section of track to your previously assembled section This stage is now complete.

9 T-72 TANK: STAGE 31 THE SMOKE MORTARS With this stage, you receive more parts for the turret, including the lights and ammunition boxes. You will be fitting the rest of the smoke mortars, left over from Stage 09. PARTS For this stage, you will need the smoke mortars (Stage 09), the turret, screws, side cutters, a knife and a screwdriver. Make a note of the identifying numbers Spotlight Tail light Headlight First ammunition box Second ammunition box Floodlight bracket Screws (5 pcs) Using the side cutters, carefully separate the smoke mortars from the sprues.

10 3 Remove any flash or burrs from the mortars with a knife. 4 Use the tip of the blade to open the screw holes of the mortars. 5 Half-tighten a screw into the hole at the end of each mortar, and then remove it. 6 Insert smoke mortar 6 into the first hole on the left side of the turret, as shown. 7 Tighten a screw into the smoke mortar from the inside of the turret. 8 Fit smoke mortars 7 to 9 in the same way as 6, in sequence around the turret. 9 Now fit smoke mortars 10 to12 into the remaining holes on the turret This stage is now complete. This is how the inside of the turret should look when all the mortars are in place. 74

11 T-72 TANK: STAGE 32 THE EXHAUST PORT AND TRACK With this stage, you receive another road wheel, more treads and pins, and the exhaust port. You will be assembling the treads and fitting the exhaust port. PARTS 1 1. Road wheel inner 2. Road wheel outer 3. Suspension arm 4. Washer 5. Split washer 6. Nut 7. Wheel cap 8. Axle bolt 9. Washer screw 10. Spring 11. Treads (5 pcs) 12. Pins (5 pcs) 13. Screws (2 pcs) 14. Exhaust port 2 In this stage, along with the exhaust port, the screws, and the treads and pins, you will need a small hammer, a screwdriver, a wooden board, the track section and the hull. The exhaust port looks like the other stowage panniers, but has a detail at the side, as shown above Align the posts on the underside of the exhaust port with the corresponding holes in the hull.

12 4 Push the exhaust port into place. 5 Turn the hull over, and insert a screw into each circled hole. 6 Tighten the first screw into place. 7 Tighten the second screw into place, to secure the exhaust port to the hull. 8 Engage two treads and insert one of the pins through the aligned holes. 9 Lightly hammer the pin into place. 11 Attach the new section of track to your previously assembled section Repeat this process with the remaining pins and treads. 76 This stage is now complete.

13 T-72 TANK: STAGE 33 THE TURRET PARTS With this stage, you receive the gun LED (which simulates the gun firing) and some more treads and pins. You will be fitting parts from Stage 31 to the turret, so keep the parts from this stage to one side for the moment. PARTS 1 1. LED 2. Pins (5 pcs) 3. Treads (5 pcs) 2 For this stage, you will need the turret and a screwdriver, as well as these parts from Stage 31: spotlight, tail light, headlight, screws and ammunition boxes. Insert the post on the back of the spotlight into the hole next to the right smoke mortars While holding the spotlight in place, tighten the large screw into the hole from the inside of the turret.

14 4 Take one of the ammunition boxes and place it over the circled hole. 5 Carefully tighten the screw into place on the inside of the turret. 6 Fit the second ammuniton box in the same way over the adjacent hole. 7 Secure the second ammuniton box in the same way as the first. 8 Insert the headlight into the circled hole shown above. 9 Hold the headlight in place and tighten one of the small screws into it from inside the turret. 11 Hold the tail light in postition and secure it with a small screw from inside the turret. 12 This stage is now complete. 10 Insert the tail light into the circled hole towards the rear of the turret. 78
