Many ancient cultures utilized masks as tools of emotional conquest. They were used in rituals, performances, social events, celebrations, etc. What Do They Symbolize? Ritual masks symbolize cultural beliefs. Depending on the culture, they might symbolize a deity, spirit, rite of passage, etc.
