Unit-II: Logic Gates: Positive and negative logic, NOT gate, OR gate, AND gate, NAND gate, NOR gate, EX-OR and EX-NOR gates. Symbol, truth table, circuit diagram for basic gates using diodes and transistors, universal properties of NAND & NOR gates. Unit-III: Boolean Algebra Boolean operations, logic expressions, rules and laws of Boolean algebra, DeMorgan's theorems, simplification of Boolean expressions using Boolean algebra techniques. (07 Periods). Unit-IV: SOP and POS form of Boolean expressions for logic network, minterms, maxterms, simplification of Boolean expressions using Karnaugh map techniques (up to 4 variables). Study of Common-Emitter transistor characteristics and determination of dc. 11. JFET characteristics. 12. Study of Series resonance circuit and determination of its bandwidth and Q-factor. 13. Study of Zener shunt regulator, line and load regulation characteristics. Group II: 1. Study of basic gates(verification of truth table) using ICs 2. Construction of basic gates using NAND gates. 3. Construction and study of half adder using NAND gates. 4. Construction and study of full adder using NAND gates. 5. Implementation of Boolean expression from the given truth table using K-map. 6. Verification of De Morgan's First theorem. 7. Verification of De Morgan's Second theorem. 8. 7 Decision of Faculty of Science 1. Semester pattern shall be adopted from the academic year without any change in present workload. 2. Each semester will be of 16 weeks exclusive of examinations. 3. Theory examination pattern should be in accordance with optional of science faculty. 4. Each optional subject (excluding Mathematics) will have paper 60 marks each (external 50 marks and internal 10 marks) and practical paper of 60 marks at B.Sc.I year level (I and II semester) where as papers will have 75 marks each (external 50 and internal 25 marks) and practical papers of 50 marks each at B.Sc. II and III year level. The minimum passing percentage will be 40 % separately for each examination papers internal & external and practicals. 5. Each external question papers will include 40 marks for subjective and 10 marks of objective. 6. Internal assessment contain mid term examination and home assignment at B.Sc. I and II year and at least one compulsory seminar at B.Sc. III year level as in annexure-i. 7. Mid term examination will be conducted after completion of at least 40 % syllabus.assessment record should be maintained in the given proforma. 8. B.Sc. I year (I, II semester) external examination will be conducted and evaluated at college level based on the question papers provided by the university. 9. B.Sc. II and III year (III, IV and V, VI semester) external examination will be conducted and evaluated at university level. 10. Duration of examination to each papers will be of two hours. Each optional subject examination will be conducted on same day irrespective of number of papers. 11. Practical examination will be conducted annually before the examination of second, fourth and sixth semester. 12. Supplementary examination for practical will not be conducted. 13. B.Sc. Second year and Third year practical examination will be conducted by two external examiners only. 14. Each answer book for examination will be of 20 pages. 15. Minimum passing percentage will be 40 % separately for external examination, internal assessment and practicals. 7
