3 Logging on to the SAM iphone application 1. On the iphone home screen, tap the SAM Application icon. 2. On the SAM Inspect log on screen, tap the Username field and enter your username. 3. On the SAM Inspect log on screen, tap the Password field and enter your password. Tap Yes on the Keep Me Logged In For The Next 30 Days switch for the system to save your details. This is optional. 4. On the SAM Inspect screen, tap the Login button to log on. Viewing the version of the SAM iphone application 1. On the SAM Inspect log on screen, tap the Information icon that is located in the top right corner of the screen. 2. To return to the main screen, tap OK. Logging out of the SAM iphone application 1. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the User icon that is located in the top right corner of the screen. 2. Tap the Logout button to log out. Searching for equipment details through Manual Search 1. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the Manual Search icon. 2. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the Enter Serial Number/Department ID field and enter a serial number or department ID number. 3. Tap the Search button. 4. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the View More button to view these additional equipment details: Department ID Serial Number Equipment Type Model Manufacturer Status Station Assignment Location Assignment Active To return to the previous screen, tap OK. Searching for equipment details through an iphone camera The camera icon uses the iphone s camera to scan the barcode or QR code for a piece of equipment. 1. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the Camera icon. 2

4 2. Point the iphone at a Barcode or QR code. Ensure that you capture the full barcode or QR code with the iphone camera. 3. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the View More button to view these additional equipment details: Department ID Serial Number Equipment Type Model Manufacturer Status Station Assignment Location Assignment Active To return to the previous screen, tap OK. Searching for equipment details with the barcode icon You can use the SAM application to search for details with the barcode icon. Recommended external scanners include the KOAMTAC KDC300 and Socket CHS 7Xi. Use the user instructions that are provided with the scanner to pair the iphone with the scanner. 1. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the Barcode icon. 2. Point the external scanner at the Barcode or QR code for a piece of equipment and press the scan button. Press the toggle button on the external scanner to continue on the iphone. 3. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the View More button to view these additional equipment details: Department ID Serial Number Equipment Type Model Manufacturer Status Station Assignment Location Assignment Active To return to the previous screen, tap OK. After you have searched a piece of equipment, you can perform a test or inspection on the equipment. To perform a test, see the Performing a test on equipment section. To perform an inspection, see the Performing an inspection on equipment section. 3

5 Viewing the date and time of a test or inspection 1. Search for the equipment as per one of the following sections: Searching for equipment details through Manual Search. Searching for equipment details through an iphone camera. Searching for equipment details with the barcode icon. 2. On the Search Equipment screen, tap either the Test or Inspection button. (a) If you tap the inspection button, you can view the following details: Last performed date. Next due date. (b) If you tap the test button, you can view the following details: Last performed date. Next due date. Perform a test on equipment 1. Search for the equipment you want to perform the test on as per one of the following sections: Searching for equipment details through Manual Search. Searching for equipment details through an iphone camera. Searching for equipment details with the barcode icon. 2. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the Test button. Double-tap the name of the test to start the test. 3. Tap the Pass or Fail switch to answer. If you select fail you must enter a comment. If you select pass, comments are optional. To enter a comment, tap the Comments icon and enter a comment in the Comment field. Tap the +Add button to add the comment. 4. Tap the icon to continue to the next question. 5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for all questions. To return to a previous question, tap the icon. 6. Under Test Finished, you must enter the station and location details for the equipment. (a) Tap the Station field, select a station and tap Done. (b) Tap the Location field, select a location and tap Done. You have the option to attach a new photograph of the equipment. To attach a photograph, see the Attaching a photograph when performing a test section. 7. If you did not answer fail to any question, you can set the Overall Status to Pass or Fail. Tap the Pass of Fail switch to set the overall status. If you answered fail to any question, the Overall Status will automatically be set to Fail. You have the option to enter overall status comments if you set the overall status to pass. You must enter overall status comments if you set the overall status to fail. To enter a pass overall status comment, tap the Comments icon and enter a comment in the Comment field. Tap the +Add button to add the comment. 4

6 To enter a fail overall status comment, tap the Comments icon and enter a comment in the Comment field. Tap the Reason field, select a reason and tap Done. Tap the +Add button to add the comment. 8. Tap the Submit icon that is located in the top right corner of the screen to view the following options: Submit: tap the submit button to submit the test and return back to the Search Equipment screen. Review And Submit: tap the review and submit button to view a summary of the test. Tap Submit to submit the test and return back to the Search Equipment screen. Perform an inspection on equipment 1. Search for the equipment you want to perform the inspection on as per one of the following sections: Searching for equipment details through Manual Search. Searching for equipment details through an iphone camera. Searching for equipment details with the barcode icon. 2. On the Search Equipment screen, tap the Inspection button. Double-tap the name of the Inspection to start the inspection. 3. Tap the Pass or Fail switch to answer. If you select fail you must enter a comment. If you select pass, comments are optional. To enter a comment, tap the Comments icon and enter a comment in the Comment field. Tap the +Add button to add the comment. 4. Tap the icon to continue to the next question. 5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for all questions. To return to a previous question, tap the icon. 6. Under Inspection Finished, you must select the equipments station and location details for the equipment. (a) Tap the Station field, select a station and tap Done. (b) Tap the Location field, select a location and tap Done. You have the option to attach a new photograph of the equipment. To attach a photograph, see the Attaching a photograph when performing an inspection section. 7. If you did not answer fail to any question, you can set the Overall Status to Pass or Fail. Attaching a photograph when performing a test. 1. Perform the test on the equipment as per steps 1 to 6 in the Perform a Test on Equipment section of this manual. 2. You have two options when attaching a photograph. To attach a photograph saved in the iphone: i. tap the Photo Library button and select the photograph. ii. Tap Close to attach the photograph. Tap the X icon to remove the attachment. To attach a photograph saved in the iphone: i. Tap the Camera button. ii. Take the photograph. iii. Tap Use Photo. iv. Tap Close to attach the photograph. Tap the X icon to remove the attachment. 3. Finish the test as per steps 7 and 8 in the Perform a Test on Equipment section of this manual. Attaching a photograph when performing an Inspection. 1. Perform the Inspection on the equipment as per steps 1 to 6 in the Perform an Inspection on Equipment section of this manual. 2. You have two options when attaching a photograph. To attach a photograph saved in the iphone: i. tap the Photo Library button and select the photograph. ii. Tap Close to attach the photograph. Tap the X icon to remove the attachment. To attach a photograph saved in the iphone: v. Tap the Camera button. vi. Take the photograph. vii. Tap Use Photo. viii. Tap Close to attach the photograph. Tap the X icon to remove the attachment. 3. Finish the inspection as per steps 7 and 8 in the Perform an Inspection on Equipment section of this manual. 6
