2 ARTISTS' WORKSHOP, INC. Class Schedule Welcome to the Artists Workshop! Our wonderful studio and gallery provide a warm environment for the experienced or beginning artist to learn, create, experiment, exhibit, and make lifelong friendships. Take a workshop, a short-term class, or an ongoing class. Whatever you choose, you will find an enthusiastic community of people happy to support your artistic endeavors! Tuesday Beginning Watercolor Liv Witherow jorunnliv@hotmail.com Winter/as needed. This class will be an Introduction to watercolor and is designed for students that are either new to watercolor, have limited knowledge of watercolor, or just want to get back to basics. I will cover everything from supplies needed to fundamental techniques getting the maximum experience from using your watercolors. We will be using a limited pallet for this class. es All on-going classes are held for 6 week intervals, beginning at different times. Call or the instructor for dates, availability, supply lists and any other questions you may have. The fee for a six-week session is $75 payable directly to the instructor. es The fees for short-term classes are at the discretion of the instructor and are payable to them. Available dates, as well as a class supply list can be obtained by calling or ing the artist. Monday Learning More About Watercolor Ella Lawless Pastel Painting elawless@cfl.rr.com Should your composition be realistic, abstract, opaque, or transparent... This class will encourage you to make your own creative choices with watercolor. Use it heavy or thin and transparent. Never be afraid of trying something new and different. Actually do try to do things different than usual. This is a fun class. Carolyn Land carolynaland@gmail.com This course will focus on composition and the use of soft pastels. Students will work from photographs or their field sketches. Various approaches to the use of this medium will be demonstrated and explored. Product information will be available. Abstract Art & Expressions in Mixed Media Carolyn Land carolynaland@gmail.com This course will explore Abstract Art and the many ways subjects can be abstracted. The basis of the course will be strong underlying composition, using the four Elements of Design: line, shape, color, and texture. Students may use any medium that they choose, or mix them together. Techniques will be demonstrated as needed, and product information will be available. Advanced Drawing Betty Parker bpmart1@aol.com Winter/as needed. Students will learn the intricacies of composition, influence of lighting and mood. Emphasis will be on developing one s own personal and distinctive style. The cost is $50 per month and needs to be paid in advance to the monitor. Class is limited to 8 artists on a first come, first served basis. We will have mostly nude models, but occasionally might also have clothed models. Contact the monitor for more information. Exploration of Watercolor Gail Bokor Library and Studio D lisabrux@gmail.com Classes run 4 weeks and will be offered in winter Cost $100. Technical Arts classes cover Photography, Photoshop & Web Design. Classes are small, hands-on and individually-based, thus you may focus on just one of the offerings, or more if you are interested. For photography you ll need basic competency regarding how your camera works. Lisa will cover specific genres & techniques such as macro, nature, lighting, composition, etc. For Photoshop you will bring your personal laptop to class with Photoshop Elements installed. Contact instructor for more details on software. Photoshop class will cover basic tool use for editing photographs such as cropping, sizing, contrast adjustment etc., as well as more sophisticated techniques such as layering, cloning & filters. Web Design for Artists also requires you to bring your own laptop, digital photos of your work, and an idea for a web site. Using online sites you will create a personal art website using your own photos and text. Call or Lisa for more info, or questions. There are 3 classes offered: 1. Web Design - Learn the elements of good web design and construct a personal or business website. Students need their own laptop computer no older than 4 years old bring to class. 2. Photoshop & Digital Photography - Review of the elements of good photographic composition then become familiar with the tools of Photoshop. Learn to crop and resize images for the web, , printing or shows. Students must have their own laptop and Photoshop software. 3. Beginning Photography - For the non-professional. Learn to use the camera that you have. Get comfortable with the tools of photography. Begin with composition and go through the elements of photography: lighting, exposure, close up, landscapes, portraits, and action. Be sure to bring the manual to class along with your camera. 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM gailbokor@aol.com In this class you will be encouraged to experiment with composition, color mixing, complementary colors, design formats and shapes, with an emphasis on negative painting. Basics, as well as a box full of tools and techniques, including wet on wet, drybrush, water painting and the use of gouache will be covered. $100 for a four week class. Ceramics Louise Lieber louiselieber527@gmail.com Learn the basic techniques (pinch, coil, slab and wheel thrown) to create sculpture and wall pieces as well as functional vessels through your own creative inspiration. There will be demonstrations and one-on-one support both technical and for direction in finding your way with clay. We will be having both electric kiln and raku firings. The class is open to all, beginners and advanced. (NOTE: Additional pre-paid materials fee, $50. Non-refundable.) martacrawford@bellsouth.net Marta will teach you a unique self-developed technique to master a contemporary-realist style, focused in the Portraiture and Still Life genre. You will be taught how to draw with accuracy and economy, and how to design a painting that has a meaningful impact on the viewer. The use of strong color and simplicity of design will be explored. This course will introduce the student to relief printing, collagraph printing, and mono printing. Directions on using the printing press will be given. Relief printing is the oldest and most direct method. You start with a flat block of wood, linoleum, or other substance with a flat surface, and carve away everything but the image you want. Many prints can be made. Collagraph printing is when material is pasted onto a support, and the raised image is printed. Many prints can be made. Monoprinting can be subtractive or direct. Subtractive; you paint a surface and wipe away what you do not want to print. Direct; you paint what you want to print on a flat surface and make one print. Special supplies needed. Thursday Painting with the Colors of Light Christophe Cardot christopheart@yahoo.fr Beginner to advanced students will learn how to mix all the colors found in nature from the 6 colors of light with their favorite painting medium using the real color wheel. Individual instruction will be given at the easel while students work on their favorite subject. Demonstrations will also be given on color mixing and techniques of painting. Shedding Light on Landscapes & Seascapes Frank Ferrante FrankPaintings@aol.com This class will place a heavy emphasis on the effect that light has on all paintings while we work together in helping you create a painter s eye (recognizing and painting light and dark shapes). We will focus on the formal elements of painting landscapes and seascapes.. or whatever you like to paint. The moderate to more advanced painters are welcome to participate in this traditional oil painting class or bring your acrylic or pastels. FUN-damentals of Drawing Betty Parker bpmart1@aol.com This class is designed to teach the elements of drawing: line, shape, perspective, texture, proportion and values. Composition and design will be addressed by working from still life. At the beginning of each session, there will be a discussion of each student s drawing done outside the class, and an explanation of the class activity for the day. Beginner to intermediate.
