8 Nte Abut Our Special Prject Juvenile Surgical Caps We have had a great respnse frm the guild members making these caps and the respnse frm the hspital has been amazing!! Thank yu ALL fr helping t make a child s prcedure a little brighter and less scary. Sherry Cbb-Thmpsn ( ) is the pint f cntact fr this prject. Over the summer please take yur cmpleted caps t LOLLIPOPS QUILT SHOP, let Sherry knw yu have drpped sme ff and she will pick them up and deliver t the hspital. These caps are used during the child's prcedure and they take the cap hme with them! The busy seasn f Summer is abut t start. Yu d nt need t wash the caps. The hspital washes them after they are received. Fabric chice can be specifically fr girls r bys r can be wrn be either., althugh they ften run shrt n by caps. Yu can even piece fabric tgether in any design, as lng as it makes a 20-inch circle. Als, Charity Quilters are starting t make children's quilts fr Families in Transitin thrugh the Nassau Cunty Bard f Educatin in anticipatin f Christmas gift-giving. Kid's lap quilts (between 40 x 50 t 50 x 60) wuld be appreciated.

9 Summer Challenges Frm Our Prgam Chair Here are a cuple f fun challenges fr the summer mnths. While certainly nt mandatry my hpe is t keep yu quilting, and having fun, as yu try the techniques intrduced this year! These prjects will be viewed during the next quilt year with little shws during ur Octber and December meetings. 12 Cmmunity Outreach There are many ways t be invlved in the Outreach prtin f the Guild. Yu are welcme t participate in any way that fills yu with jy. Charity Quilters Kits are available at the meetings, r cntact the crdinatrs. The Charity Quilters (see Small Grups) wrk n these quilts. Peple are needed t help rtary cut kits during Charity Quilter meetings and t sew bindings n quilts yu can pick up at regular Guild meetings. Theresa Megna ( ) and Jenny Chen ( ) chair this cmmittee. Habitat Fr Humanity Pam Wise ( ) chairs this cmmittee that creates bed sized quilts fr each Habitat hme in Nassau Cunty. NeNatal Baby Blankets Placemat size, 18 x 22 up t 30 square, are prvided t the NeNatal unit f UF Health. The blankets are washed at the hspital and smetimes g hme with baby r the parents. Yu may bring these blankets t any meeting and they will be given t Sheri Inserra wh wrks at UF Health and delivers these sweet blankets fr us. Quilts f Valr Laurie Malm, wner f Lllipps Quilt Shp, has taken n the task f wrking with the Quilts f Valr prgram. There are special requirements fr a bed sized quilt t qualify fr this prgram and Laurie and her assistants wrk with the QAV flds s all yu have t d is create the quilts in the specified size and materials. QAV prvides quilts fr wunded service men and wmen; preferred size is 55" X 65" up t 60" X 80"; masculine quilts are especially in demand; Laurie prvides the special labels, but a hand written nte, perhaps just saying thank-yu t the service member, and a presentatin pillwcase are requested. See fr full details. Ryan s Case Fr Smiles Ryan s Case fr Smiles helps with the stress and emtinal impact f illness fr children hspitalized because f life threatening disease. These whimsical pillwcases give children an emtinal bst during a very trying time in their lives. Our Guild has spearheaded the prductin in ur area creating and dnating hundreds and hundreds f pillwcases We have held Sew-Ins in crdinatin with Lllipps Quilt Shp and Jax QuiltFest has ffered a day f free admissin when yu vlunteer t sew pillwcases fr an hur at the shw!
