2 A Word from the President: The October meeting will feature Mr. Steve Carroll with ConocoPhillips. He will be presenting Bakken Drilling in North Dakota. We are absolutely thrilled that ConocoPhillips has offered to come out and discuss their Bakken drilling program at our meeting. As everyone is aware, it is difficult to get operators to come out and present a particular topic at our meetings. Kudos to ConocoPhillips for stepping up to the plate this year. We really appreciate their support of the Permian Basin AADE. The Texas Tech AADE student chapter will also host the first annual golf tournament at the Rawls Golf Course in Lubbock on October 21, We are still looking for teams and sponsors for this tournament. I encourage you to come out and play a great golf course and meet the Texas Tech students. They are a very energetic bunch and a lot of fun to be around! 4 The Permian Basin Chapter of AADE is proud to sponsor two outstanding universities for scholarships and overall education in the petroleum industry. TTU AADE Monthly Update: The AADE Texas Tech chapter went back into session for the educational year on August 25 th. The Texas Tech chapter started this year with the engineering Kick Off event on campus. It was used to introduce and recruit upcoming and current students in Petroleum and other engineering departments to AADE. During that event eighty-five new paid members joined our chapter. This year our membership rate has increased by more than 40 percent from last year. Currently we are at 170 members. During the month of September our chapter held two meetings with Baker Hughes and Exxon Mobil. In October we started our meetings with Schlumberger and we are expecting Rising Star on the 19 th and Weatherford later this month. 9 Texas Tech University Student Chapter American Association of Drilling Engineers Golf Tournament Friday, October 21 st, 2011 Rawls Course (Lubbock, TX) Please join us for the first annual golf tournament benefitting the Student Chapter of the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE). The tournament will be played at the Rawls Course, the home course of the Texas Tech golf team. All proceeds will go toward the support of chapter activities. The format will be a four person scramble, and we hope to have at least one student per team. Sponsorship levels are Gold ($1000), Silver ($750) and Tee Box ($400). All sponsorship levels are greatly appreciated! Payment can be made by check or by credit card at registration. All credit card transactions are subject to a 4% surcharge. Registration starts at 11:00 AM, with lunch being served in the clubhouse from 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM, followed by a shotgun start at 1:00 PM. After the golf tournament, we will have snacks and drinks at the clubhouse as awards and door prizes are distributed.
