4 Dallas Gem and Mineral Society General Meeting Plano Rd, Suite 104 March 20, 2018 Call to Order: 7:07 p.m. Announcements President, Jay Taylor Jay called the meeting to order at 7:07. President asked members to check the roster to make sure their information is correct. Program No program. Some members who went on the recent field trip to Las Cruces talked about the great rocks they found. Rocks were available for show and tell. Officer Reports 1st VP (Programs), Jordan Fayo Nothing to report. 2 nd VP (Lapidary Shop), John Taylor / Don McCauley Don talked about the shop. Members are not using equipment properly. He discussed the proper way to use the equipment. Many are in need of repair. This is very costly for the club. It is best to check with shop supervisor to make sure the rock is placed properly and secure before turning on saw. Only qualified persons may work on equipment. Clean equipment after use. If you think oil is low, have the shop supervisor check it. John talked about the shop cleanup on April 28 th at 1:00. There is a signup sheet to volunteer. If anyone is storing personal rocks at the shop, they need to take them home. Lydia reported that the shop is out of paper towels Treasurer, Diana Case Treasurer was not present. President went over report for March. Income $510 and expenses $ Rent has not been deducted yet. Secretary, Debi Lindsey / Joan Sheppard Debi talked about membership and updates. If members ordered a badge, please pick up. Voted in 12 new members. Mike R motioned and Bart Pickard 2 nd. Approved. 6 th Board Member, Mike Russell No information at this time Show Chair, Diana Case Show cards are ready have been ordered. Contracts have been sent out to vendors. Editor, Joan Sheppard Vote on minutes that were in RokTok. Singh motioned and Mike Andrews 2 nd.minutes approved. Webmaster, Mike Andrews No information at this time. Break for dinner at 7:30. Resumed meeting at 8:10 Door Prize Winner Chris King won an Agate Calendar and Tiger Eye Cabochon InterGem Al Brewton talked about the April show. will be sent out to those that worked the last show to help setup. Setup starts on Wednesday around noon. Show opens on FridaySaturday 10:006:00 and Sunday 11:005:00. David Dudich is the lead person for this show. Requirements for having show space: you must help with setup and you must have made items yourself. Objective is to promote the club and demonstrate our skills.we have cards to hand out with free admittance for 2. There is a signup sheet in shop on the bulletin board for those that would like to help setup. Field trips Jana Houston talked about the upcoming Midlothian trip on March 31 st.
