3 1. Create Your Facebook Post First you ll want to create a post on your Facebook Page that you are going to use to run this Ad. It can be any of these three types of post: 1} Content + Link 2} Content + Link + Image 3} Content + Link + Video 1200 X 630 { Dimensions for Facebook Post Image } { My favorite post to run Ads on are #2 & #3. } Tech Tip: Want to add text to your images but aren t a graphic designer and don t have access to expensive photo editing software? Use your smartphone to add text to images. My favorite app is A Beautiful Mess. It has fun text and images that easily allow you to add pizzazz to your images. Need more app recommendations? Click here for a kick-ass list of them. If you do use text on your image, your text can only take up 20% of the space of the image. Click here to access the Grid Tool. Another great thing about these apps is that they will help you crop your image to a perfect square, which helps with Facebook s image specs. You can also use PicMonkey.com to edit your images. This is a completely free to use online tool. You can easily edit images by adding filters, borders, and text.

4 2. Begin to Create Your Ad Once you have your post posted on your Facebook Page, you re ready to set up your Facebook Ad. Go to Select to Boost Your Post Type in the name of your Facebook Business page: Once you select your page, it will load more options for the next step.

5 The next option you want to select the Post to Promote.

6 Next, you will specify whom your ad is going to be targeted to. { Note }This is where it is uber important to know who your Ideal Client is and what their interest are. You can target their industry or organizations that they may belong to. Just remember to test and track to see what is converting and what is not. BONUS TIP :: I like to use the Interest Section to target Pages that I know my Ideal Client might Like. I also normally target 3-5 of these types of pages { Connections } I like to select the option for Only those people NOT connected to Ali Rittenhouse for this option. This shows the ad to a whole new audience. The great thing about running the ad to those who haven t liked my page is that this ad always grows my likes AND my list. Which is basically a two-for-one-deal and we all love that Occasionally, I will run a small ad that does target those who have already liked my page. I generally steer away from this because most of those people are already on my list.

7 Now that you have your ad targeted audience set up, it is time to finish up by creating your budget for your ad. Create a campaign name so that you know what this ad is all about and so that you can easily identify it in the list. Set your budget for either the campaign or the day. I generally run the budget for per day. You can set it to whatever your budget can handle. Decide whether you are running your ad continuously or whether it will run with a start and end day. An important step is selecting to how your ad is optimized. See my example below for all of these steps.

8 Once you have your ad ready to go. Let s hit PLACE ORDER If your ad is not approved, review the reasoning of why they didn t approve it, make those changes and resubmit. They will not shut down your page if they do not approve an ad, so you can breathe easy there. Once your ad is approved it is crucial to keep an eye on your Facebook Ad Dashboard to track the results. I also keep track of the list signups that are coming through on my marketing system so I know if the ads are converting. And that is it Now, geek out on setting up your first ad
