One piece of the marketing puzzle: it's not the whole puzzle, but but this piece shouldn't be missing Agents and publishers expect authors to use social media Builds your brand and credibility With over 4 1/2 million books on Amazon, this basically free tool will help you get your book noticed

4 Which Social Media Platform Should I Use? Are you interested in a music festival and reaching a lot of people? Twitter's your thing Do you want your tribe to connect more personally with you and other readers? Use Facebook Is your goal to connect with other professionals and deepen those relationships? LinkedIn is the place Would you like to connect with readers interested in a more personal look into your life as an author? Dive into Instagram

5 Pre-Launch Marketing Strategies

6 6 Months Before Launch Create a spreadsheet task list with your strategies and timeline for each task. Create a budget for book marketing. Create a page on your website with information about your book including 1. The cover image 2. Expected release date 3. list signup form

7 4 Months Before Launch Reach out to bloggers who interview authors to plan a virtual book tour the week your book launches. Contact podcasters for interviews. Request book endorsements.

8 2 Months Before Launch Build anticipation by posting your book cover everywhere. Create bookmarks and/or postcards around the book. Create a hashtag specific to your book. Use it often. For example, my retail client uses this hashtag #fivelawsofretail for his book on the subject The Five Laws of Retail. Offer a special discount for pre-orders of your book. Reaching out to a small group of people to be your beta readers. They ll get the book free and are willing to post a book review on Amazon when the book launches.

9 1 Month Before Launch Let your list know when the book will be released. Write blog posts about the book. Include excerpts. Set up Google alerts to monitor mention of your name, book, topic. Build your mailing list. Give away a sample chapter of your book to new subscribers. Share relevant links related to your topic. Mention how your book will address that subject. Write copy about the book that your audience can share on their social media platforms on launch day. Ask your mailing list to share the book launch announcement.

10 Book Launch Day Marketing Strategies Send an announcement to your list the day the book launches. Announce the launch on your blog, Facebook page, Goodreads, and other social media platforms. Ask your beta readers to post their review on Amazon. Interact with your audience on launch day. Respond to comments and questions on your blog and social media platforms. Encourage your audience to ask questions. Be sure to use the specific hashtag you created in your social media posts.
