Overview A piping component (to cut) for routed system is considered when the component is placed onto a pipe run and a profile cut occurs in the pipe route at the inserted point. See Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document for piping components where placement into a pipe run breaks the pipe route at the inserted point Branched connection (using an o-let or saddle component) Profile (hole) cut into the pipe run Pipe is not broken 1
Part Configuration Model the part per part modeling described in the Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document. Access (fx) parameters and create a User Parameter called PipeRun_OD. Set units as required. Value shall be based on actual pipe (line) size outside diameter (i.e ). Place a work point at the location where the mate of the component and the pipe run will take place. The designated (mate) work point must not reside on the designated pipe centerline within the part It cannot be referenced using existing geometry such as a circular edge Place an axis representing the pipe centerline or use an existing axis that represents the pipe centerline. Though optional, define the profile (sketch) representing the cut (See example for additional information) if required to show. Branched connection Define (or use) a plane that is parallel to the branch and perpendicular to the pipe centerline to create a sketch for the profile cut. Define work axis representing the pipe centerline Define work point at the mate of the component and pipe (or tube) run 2
Part Configuration Apply any applicable flow arrows, IMATES, and surface indicators as outlined in the Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document. Save the content center family template master file per the Part Modeling document. Create an IPART (authoring) as outlined in the Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document. Though in most cases, these types of components are considered reducing, they are not considered reducing in routed system terminology and must abide by the ND and ComponentSize designation. However for those complex (multi-size) branches, the use of ND1/ND2 and ComponentSize/ConnectionSize is required. Add the parameter PipeRun_OD to the table. Orient model into an ISO view <F6>. 3
Tube & Pipe Authoring Select Tube & Pipe from the Manage/Author ribbon section [1] Under the Type (pull-down list) select Branches. [2] Change the (number of) Connections as needed. A branched connection must always have at least two (2) connections defined or always one (1) more than the actual number of branches. Starting with the (largest) branch connection, [3] Under the End Treatment (pull-down list) select treatment (for connection #1). See Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document for additional information. [4] Apply the required Parameter to Table Mapping (Nominal Size as ND). Complex (multi-size) branches may require the use of ND [5] Define (select it) the (connection #1) branch connection point based on the guidelines outlined in the Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document. [6] Define (select it) the (connection #1) branch connection axis based on the guidelines outlined in the Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document. [7] Confirm connection process arrow is going away from the defined connection point based on the guidelines outlined in the Content Center Piping Component (to Break) document. 6 Use the flip directional icon if required. 4
Tube & Pipe Authoring [8] Select Female or Male based on the connection type. Neutral is an acceptable alternative for Welded end treatment 9 [9] Define the Engagement per established manufacturing requirements. It is recommended to define the Max as Distance with zero (0) distance and Min as zero (0) percent of Max ISOGEN values are optional but recommended to fill in. [10] Define the ISOGEN Type (pull-down list) entry. For those components not represented in the ISOGEN type list, select the closest item or leave blank. [11] Define the ISOGEN Skey (pull-down list) entry. For those components not represented in the ISOGEN Skey list, select the closest item or leave blank. [12] If present define the ISOGEN ** = (pull-down list) entry. For those end treatments not represented in the ISOGEN ** = list select the closest item or leave blank If other branches are present, select the next connection (button) and repeat steps 3 through 9. Make sure to apply the correct Parameter to Table Mapping
Tube & Pipe Authoring Cut Definition [13] Select last connection number button [14] Define the End Treatment (pull-down list) as Other. [15] Define the Min Nominal Size and Max Nominal Size as PipeRun_OD. [16&17] Define the mating point. Mating point is defined where the branch mates with the pipe (or tube) run. [18&19] Define the pipe centerline (axis). Optional, define cut profile if required to show. [20] Select Cut Mating Pipe [21&22] Select Cut Profile and select profile sketch Confirm your settings for all connections. Select the OK button and acknowledge the Authoring Results. Turn off all origin and user defined work planes, axis, and points. Save part. Publish part to the content center per the Content Center Management document. If you do not have edit rights to the content center please forward part to a member of the content center team 6
