2 Pauline Richards will share her favorite ways to simplify sewing while creating more professional looking projects. Pockets, sleeves, collars, cuffs, zippers and hems will no longer mystify or challenge you. Samples will inspire and answer your questions. Pauline Richards publishes Total Embellishment Newsletter and is known for her innovative stories in SEW NEWS, Creative Machine Embroidery, Sew Beautiful and Better Homes and Gardens Creative Home. Pauline offers usable, timely inspiration and help for creative sewers who appreciate new ideas. She also loves to recycle and frequently goes fabric and trim shopping at thrift stores. Latticework Fringed Scarf - Create a fringed scarf using water-soluble stabilizer and chenille strips. It is a fast and simple scarf that even a beginner can do. The softest scarf you will ever wrap around your neck. Pillow top - Learn to use chenille to embellish and quilt in one easy step and finish the edge with a soft, plush edge of chenille. 3 Renée Jensen has Associate degrees in Custom Sewing and Clothing and Textiles. She started sewing in the 6th grade; by 7th grade she decided she needed something new to wear to school the next day and made it that night. At 16 she got a job at the dry cleaners in Rexburg, Idaho and started doing alterations as a profession. She has been doing bridal alterations for 12 years. Learn a fun activity that involves no sewing - a great way to introduce concepts of clothing construction and design for those just getting started. Participants work in small groups to choose a project, sketch it out, and use reuse/recycle materials and supplies provided to create the design(s). The concept has been used successfully with Dr. Shirley s USU textile classes and was introduced this year at State 4-H Contests. Turn four Nine Patch Blocks into a quick and easy quilt top that just looks complicated. A great quilt for beginners and those of us who want to make a quilt in a hurry. 42 x 42 quilt size. * Please note needed supplies for this class. Participants will visit his studio and get a look at his custom clothing and explore Keith s vision of fashion as an art form. Keith was a creative competitor on the season five Project Runway, and he leads Filthy Gorgeous Clothing as the Executive Director and Lead Designer. Keith is the ultimate artist and his creativity will inspire!
