Straighten the Middle Brace (2) and secure- ly tighten the two Bolts which fasten it to the Tongue (5). End Plate (3) 20. Make sure the Lift Arm (4) still rests against the right side of the offset channel. You should have to force the Lift Arm (4) into alignment with the slot when lowering the Lawn Aerator to aerating position. 21. Before using, test product by rolling short distance. Turn both directions. Make sure lever and wheels are performing. Functions Aerating means pulling small soil plugs, ranging up to three inches in length, from the soil to create small reservoirs that will bring oxygen, fertilizer and water down to the roots of the lawn. Operating Instructions Read the entire Important Safety Information section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. 1. For best aerator results, mow lawn and remove loose clippings prior to use. REV 08h SKU For technical questions, please call Page 9
10 2. 3. Attach Tongue (5) of Lawn Aerator to rear of towing vehicle and secure with Hitch Pin (22) and R Pin (23). Start towing vehicle with controls in neutral and parking brake set. 13. When finished aerating, shut down the tow vehicle and remove the Lawn Aerator. Wash down with strong water stream from hose, let dry and store inside away from children. 4. Lower Lift Arm (4) allowing Knife Blades (15) to enter the ground. 5. Move forward at low speed and aerate in as straight a line as possible. Making overlap passes through your lawn increases the size of the aerated pattern. 6. Avoid extremely sharp turns with the Knife Blades (15) in the ground. 7. DO NOT cross over walks or driveways with Knife Blades lowered to aerating position. 8. To increase the depth of penetration, the Top Tray (1) may be weighed down with up to 440 lb. of weight. The use of concrete blocks, or sand bags is recommended. The weight can be secured with ties fastened to the front and rear of the Tray (1). 9. If the ground is extremely hard and dry, it is recommended that it be sprinkled or watered down for one or two hours prior to aerating. After getting the lawn wet, let dry slightly. 10. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO AERATE THE LAWN IF THE SOIL IS TOO WET OR MUDDY. 11. Due to small rocks and gravel which are normally present after aerating, it is recommended that the lawn be raked before mowing to prevent damage to your lawn mower blades. 12. CAUTION: To prevent injury, shut off engine and dismount from the towing vehicle in order to raise or lower the aerating knife blades. SKU For technical questions, please call Page 10
11 Maintenance And Servicing Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician. To prevent serious injury from tool failure: Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. 3. After using, hose down, let dry and store inside.
