1 Effective from: Page: 1 GENERAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR SMU TYPE METAL DOORS AND SMU HATCH USE OF DOORS The SMU type doors can be used as opening fillers with the fire resistance class equal or lower than shown in the table 1 below or as internal and external doors without any fire resistance class. It is also allowed to install windows into the doors. Thickness of the later flooring material should also be taken into account. The most suitable installation time is after the casting of the floor and before the possible wall finishing works when the door or window jambs are finished without cover strips. When using the cover strips, it is advisable to install the door after complete finishing of the structural opening, incl. painting. The door frame must be fastened with a screw fastening, suitable for the wall type. It is permitted to use wedge anchor bolts, screws or bolts with metal or plastic dowels or other fasteners with minimum dimensions of screw 5x60 mm / dowel 8x50 mm. Recommended fasteners are 7.5x82 mm screw for concrete, 8,0x90 mm screw for a Fibo block and 6.3x55 mm self-drilling screw for gypsum board walls with metal frame. Work sequence 1) While transporting the door to the place of installation, avoid defects of the surface finish and, if necessary, protect the surfaces with cardboard, plastic foil or some other material. 2) Check the compatibility of the structural opening and the dimensions of the door. For the insulation of gaps between the frame and the wall of the opening fillers that have fire resistance class, see Table 3 all the others, insulation foam is optional and must be according to the conditions of the environment. 3) Place the door frame into the structural opening on the directly completed and levelled floor. 4) Bend the fixing elements of the frame according to the building practice. 5) SMU doors, which having a wool filled threshold, the threshold must be fitted with fire resistance class insulation foam (if the door has fire resistance class) that is

2 Effective from: Page: 2 shown in Table 3, and doors without the fire resistance class, the threshold can be fitted with freely selected insulation foam, but it must be according to the conditions of the environment. 6) If necessary, fix the hinge-side lower corner with a wedge (in the case of a fire restraining product use a wedge, made of non-combustible material). 7) If the floor is not level, install spacing boards of non-combustible material under the threshold. 8) Fix the fasteners 1, 2 and 3 (see Drawings 1, 2, 3 and 4) so that the threshold (in case there is one) and the hinge-side door post would be levelled. See Drawing 11. 9) If necessary, the door frame should be wedged into the wall opening. 10) Install the door leaf on the hinges and check the gaps between the door leaf and the frame. See Drawing 10. The gaps should be even all along the perimeter. If necessary, adjust the door! 11) In the case of a double door, install the active door leaf into the frame and check the evenness between the door leaf and the gaps under the door leaf, on the hinge side and at the top. If necessary, adjust the door! 12) Fix the fastener 4. 13) In the case of a double door, install a passive door leaf into the frame and, if necessary, check the performance of the bolt(s)/hardware and adjust them, if necessary. 14) Fix the other frame fasteners (the number of fastener holes depends on the door type and dimensions). 15) Fasten the threshold. For fastening screws, see Table 2. 16) Fill the gap between the frame and the wall according to Table 3 and the descriptions in Drawings 5, 6, 7 and 8. The materials to be used for filling the gap between the frame of the fire door and the wall may be changed only in the case the material has the fire prevention properties of the corresponding class, and the requirements of the manufacturer s operating instructions are observed. 17) Fasten the cover strips as shown in Drawings 5, 6, 7 and 8, install countersunk head caps of the fastener holes.
