4 2 SovereignSeries Overview Design Objectives The SovereignSeries Architectural range has been designed to provide residential and commercial solutions for homes, baches, apartments and commercial buildings. SovereignSeries is a high performance residential suite which exceeds the performance levels of standard residential product through clever design including more substantial frame, sash and mullion profiles. The key objectives of the design were to: Provide an architectural product that is adaptable to different styles of homes by providing flexibility and choice for the Architects and Designers on how the product integrates into the structure of the home. To design an attractive architectural range meeting current and future requirements for high performance products. Key Features Contemporary external flat faced styling suited to modern architecture. Concealed fixing of windows and doors with no requirement for timber reveals although these are an optional choice should they be preferred. Optional frame facing sizes 25mm, 35mm or no facing providing additional style options. Attractive low profile and flush sill threshold details on all doors (except open-in hinged door). Flush sash window design with multipoint locking and raised cover plate providing a square commercial style as optional. Clever Inline Bi-fold Door which folds back inline with exterior cladding. Flexible glazing capability enabling optimal thermal glazing performance 4mm to 24mm. Corner soakers for all mitre joints at the sill area. 100mm overall frame depth, allows integration when required with 100mm commercial product, such as Shopfront and Frontline flush glaze systems. Wide choice of mullions, interlockers, stiles and rails. Commercial The SovereignSeries range is also used in commercial applications being favoured over 75mm or 100mm Shopfront and 40mm Commercial Window in situations where the application requires a higher performance specification and/or where a high number of sashes are required. SovereignSeries integrates into our 100mm Commercial Door system providing a solution for commercial shopfronts and a wide variety of other low rise commercial situations including street frontages, in malls, education facilities, public buildings and amenities. 21

Sash Max Sizes ( x W) 1.5m x 1.2m Wider awning sashes are possible when heights are lower. Max Sash Weight 43Kg Weight is limited by the stay capacity. Sash Types Flush or Overlaid Flush sash can accommodate multipoint locking. Glazing 4mm to 24mm Provides for a wide range of glass combinations. Facing Size 25mm, 35mm or no facing Optional facing sizes Sill Finishing Optional Details Choice of cover plate option and finishing determines final detail. Frame Width 100mm Includes 35mm glazing platform. Concealed Fixing Yes Through the frame, with a choice of two styles of cover plate Sizes Maximum sizes for awning, casement, fixed windows, and sashes vary by width, height, wind zone, and glazing requirement. Your local Nulook fabricator will be able to advise you whether a configuration is possible or contact NALCO Technical support. As a guide, maximum fixed window panels up to 2.3m by 1.5m and sashes of 1.5m by 1.2m are recommended. Note: For compliance with NZS4211:2008 and the NZ Building Code a security stay, safety latch, or restrictor may be required for certain sash sizes. Frame Types Window frames have optional facings ranging from 25mm, 35mm cover, or no facing. Provision of a 24mm glazing pocket. The internal cover plate for concealed fixing has two options, or square internal cover 12755, providing for a variety of detail finishes. Curved frames are also available. Glazing Beads and Sash Types Two pocketed sash types are available, flush or proud. The flush sash has the additional option of multi point locking. French casement sashes are available. A range of 10 beads are available to accommodate glazing options from 4mm to 24mm and to provide a variety of finishing styles from sloped to square. Mullions and Transoms, Corner Posts, and Coupling Bars Mullions and transoms are chosen based on spans and wind loads to add strength to the window to cope with higher wind loads. In addition to nine standard mullions there are three heavy square box mullions to accommodate the style and necessary performance strength to meet deflection requirements. 6 Two corner posts, 45 and 90, are available. Three coupling bars options, 45, 90, and 180 are available. Window Ventilation Aluvent passive ventilation enables passive ventilation to be included in sashes and fixed light panels but not in fixed panels of sliding doors. Refer to Aluvent (General section). Flashings Standard range of flashings include 84mm, 71mm, 63mm, 58mm, 53mm, 48mm, 41mm, 38mm, 31mm, 25mm, and 14mm. The doors are bottom rolling on a structural grade (6261) anodized aluminium track to improve the life of the track. Glazing, Beads, and Panel Types Door Panels are 36mm deep. Doors have a range of 10 beads to accommodate glazing options from 4mm to 24mm and to provide a variety of finishing styles from sloped to square. Square panel interlockers, stiles, and bi-parting centre jointer (four panel jointer). Wide lock stile options to accommodate a wide variety of pull handles flush pulls with 35/40mm back set locks. Inline Bi-fold This door folds back 180 in line with the building. To do so, the front of the frame must be within 20mm of the face of the exterior cladding in a recessed application. Frame Types Bi-fold frames have optional facings ranging from 25mm, 35mm cover, or no facing. Provision of a 24mm glazing pocket Open out frames are available only as top rolling. The same frame is used to fabricate the two options, which can be included in the same door, for example three panel inline and three panel standard. Special support fixing brackets are required in timber frame cavity construction designs for both types of doors. Glazing, Beads, and Panel Types A range of 11 beads are available to accommodate glazing options from 4mm to 24mm and to provide a variety of finishing styles ranging from sloped to square. Configurations Inline bi-fold windows and door configurations are available in two or three panels only, providing for up to six panel bi-parting. For bi-fold windows we recommend fully captive configurations 2and0, 2and2, or 4and0. We do not recommend loose panel options with an odd number of panels sliding in one direction, such as 2and1, 3and0, 4and1, or 3and2. This is because the configuration requires additional latching, which may be difficult to operate in some instances such as over a kitchen bench. 46 Mullions and Transoms A coupling bar is used for window overlights. (Recommended for standard bi-folds only.) Vision rails are available to improve safety in high traffic areas. Ventilation An Aluvent passive ventilation enables passive ventilation to be included into bi-fold doors. Refer to the Aluvent (general section). Flashings Standard range of flashings include 84mm, 71mm, 63mm, 58mm, 53mm, 48mm, 41mm, 38mm, 31mm, 25mm, and 14mm. Refer to flashings (general section). ardware Proprietary NALCO bi-fold hinge, inline hinge, and bifold roller assemblies are critical components to provide attractive visual and functional performance of doors and windows. Other considerations include multipoint locks and twin bolts. Refer to hardware (general section).
