3 Hi So you have booked Battlefield UNDEAD for you event. In your boxes you will find everything you need. There is an envelop that contains some useful documents do not throw anything out!!! On the Packing Slip it has everything packed, mark off that you have got it all. If you have not received an item let us know immediately, on This booklet is your set up & game guide. When your event is finished turn all the Gaming Guns off (with the key) and pack them back in the boxes. Use the Packing slip to ensure you have packed everything by marking each thing off. Seal the boxes with the tape provided (left over tape is yours to keep). If your boxes are being collected by courier Make sure someone is there and that the boxes are ready by 10am to be collected. The boxes must be sealed and must have their return address stickers and connotes stickers attached over the top of the original ones and sign the dispatch summary (if they are to be returned by courier); these were in the same envelop as this booklet. If you re returning your boxes yourself Make sure you return your boxes to: Shop 1/ 6 Graham St, Underwood, QLD 4119 the next day after your event or as stated on your booking invoice. 5 Getting Started FAST: The gaming guns are preset to run our Zombie missions. THE STANDARD BOX INCLUDES: The Red team are the Zombies (armed with the Cobra) and the Blue team are the Survivors (armed with the Scorpion). 8 x Gaming Guns pre set 1x Spare 4 x Gaming Guns pre set to Red Team (Black Headband) to Blue The Gaming Guns come pre-set so that the Red Team can only Tag Blue Team and Vice Versa. Locate your keys, you should have two of them. To switch the Gaming Gun on, turn the key ¼ TURN clockwise. Wait a couple of seconds then you are ready to play. The sensors are mounted on a headband using Velcro & elastic. The headband goes over a bandanna or hat. These tell the teams. To turn on your Medic Boxes, turn the key ¼ TURN clockwise, and press the big black button. Take the key out of the Gaming Guns/medic boxes to play. The Gaming Guns are pre set, so the Zombies can ONLY hit the Survivors. (The Zombie team CANNOT hit the other Zombies). Likewise Survivors cannot hit others Survivors) Aim at the headbands or the barrel (that s where the sensors are). Each time a Survivor hits a Zombie; your Gaming Gun says Casualty. Each time a Zombie hits a Survivor, it will say Brains. When a Survivor kills a Zombie, the Survivors gaming gun will say Kill Confirmed When a Zombie infects (kills) a Survivor, the Zombie s gaming gun will say Brains, Brains, BRAINS The number of hits is shown on your display after the letter H. The number of kills is shown after the letter K. Gaming Guns are pre set on Standard mode, which means Survivors will need to reload with the red button (left hand side of the gaming gun) and there is limited number of reloads shown on the LCD after the letter R. To reload push the red button and wait a few seconds for the new virtual magazine to be inserted. The black button swaps between single shot and rapid fire. Zombie gaming guns have a special configuration; they automatically shoot every second with no noise or muzzle flash and they never need reloading. Zombie s don t get a red dot scope as they are meant to get in close and only 2 shots will kill a Zombie. Zombies however receive unlimited respawns from the medical station (medic box) When you are not using them, or have finished playing turn the Gaming Guns off & turn the medic boxes off using the key (¼ TURN anti clockwise). Please make sure everything is turned off before you pack the equipment away. 5

Notes: A standard 12 box includes 8 grey Cobra s with red head bands, they are the Zombies & 4 Scorpions with blue head bands, they are the survivors. 1 spare Scorpion, with no head band is preconfigured for a survivor but can be changed to a Zombie if required (call the Battlefield LIVE office if one of the Zombie gaming guns break and you need to change the spare into Zombie mode). The red team medic box that will provide unlimited respawns to the Zombie team. The other box is configured as ammunition box to provide additional ammunition to the survivors. Brains bandannas (head wraps) for the Zombie players and blue bandannas for the Survivors. The bandannas are put on first, tie at the back of the head and then the sensors are placed over the bandannas with one sensor dome to the front and one to the rear. The cable then goes under the player s arm. Sticker colours may vary Booster Pack A booster pack is designed to be added to any standard 12 pack. It contains another 4 Cobras and 2 Scorpions. Inflatable Hire Our inflatables are 100% portable and weather-resistant. If you don t have lots of cover to hide behind then you can create an instant Battlefield, inside or outside. We have 3 types of inflatables to choose from: Cone inflatables Brick inflatables Blockade Bunker inflatables All units are built tough but they are not indestructible. DO NOT JUMP ON THEM. 6

The extra medic box is set to team A and is configured to provide 10 respawns to the Survivors reflecting a stash of emergency medical supplies that help cure the infection. 8 INTRO All dressed up for a great Zombie event, but nothing to do when you arrive? Battlefield UNDEAD is the answer! We are all about bringing memorable and exciting experiences. Now with the Battlefield UNDEAD, you can experience a horror themed battlefield experience at your event with our easy to use DIY package. What is it? Battlefield UNDEAD uses commercial grade outdoor Laser Tag equipment especially programmed to run an exciting Zombie survival game. The system uses a combination of patented digital radio and digital infrared technology. There are infrared sensors forward facing on each gaming gun and two more that mount on head bands that go over a hat or bandanna. Everything is preconfigured so the game is easy to run, it is turnkey. The gaming guns do not use lasers and are therefore eye safe. We recommend you check the yard you are playing in and avoid tripping hazards. LONG Battery life Our Gaming Guns are designed for hours and hours of game time (around 16 hours). So you should be able to use the Gaming Guns for the whole event and still have plenty of charge left in them. Obviously if you hold the trigger down and continuously shoot the battery will last less time than if you go, go, go all day. For maximum use, please turn the units OFF when not in use. When we deliver the Gaming Guns to you, they are fully charged and zeroed. 8

10 How to hit your Opponent? Your goal is to try and kill Zombies or to infect survivors. To do this you need to aim at the sensors. Survivors should aim 6 cm above the sensor with the red dot scope. Zombies aim with the peep sight about 4 cm above the sensor. Aiming with the peep sight is more challenging and therefore making it harder for Zombies to make long shots. There is a sensor mounted on the Gaming Gun and two more on the head band. Gaming Guns are preset to teams so that players on the Zombie team cannot hit other players on the Zombie team. When you have an opponent s sensor in your scope, pull the trigger. The Scorpions are delivered to you pre set in Standard mode so when you empty a mag and then pull the trigger you will hear a dry fire sound effect, you need to push the left button near the trigger to reload and then let go. The Scorpion will take 3 seconds to reload. But you can be hit while re loading, so try to hide! If you hit someone, you will hear your Gaming Gun confirm the hit by a voice sound effect i.e Casualty (Survivor) or Brains (Zombie). If you kill a Zombie, your Scorpion will say Kill Confirmed. If a Zombie infects a survivor, the Zombie s Cobra will say Brains, Brains, BRAINS. What happens when you are hit? As well as trying to hit the opponents, you should try to hide during the game to make it harder for opponents to hit you. If you playing a Survivor, the first 7 times, you will hear a near miss. The next two hits, you will hear an oouf sound effect and then you will hear the death sound effect on your next hot like a long "aaaargh!". Zombies will hear a bullet wound effect on the first hit and then a long death sound effect. 10

11 How to use your Medic Box Zombies receive unlimited respawns from their medic box. This means the Zombie horde will never stop! A respawn restores your Cobra back to full health points. Pushing the big button on the medic box while pointing the sensor at the box will respawns a Zombie. When respawned, your Cobra will say Respawned. During play the head sensor must stay on your head. Don t cover the sensor with your hand or any carried object 'cause that s cheating! How to use your Ammunition Box Survivors always need plenty of ammunition to fend off the Zombie horde. To do this they need more ammunition. The Scorpion starts with 7 magazines each of 30 shots. If you use at least one clip you can go to your ammunition box, push the main button and it will restore all spent magazines. Your Spare Gaming Gun In your delivery you would have received a spare Scorpion. Please keep this one in reserve. Only use it if one of the other Gaming Guns stops working (such as low battery). The spare is configured for a Survivor. This spare can also be set to act as a Battle Box or master controller if needed. If you need to re set a Gaming Gun to a different team, please call our office so we can walk you through the steps. ZOMBIFY YOUR EVENT!!!!! Getting dressed up is half the fun! Included in your rental are brains bandanas but why stop there. We have a range of Zombie themed decorations for you to create your Battlezone. Don t worry we haven t forgotten the survivors. Why not build a safe zone for the survivors to defend using inflatable bunkers and camo nets. And no Zombie party is complete without something for your Zombies to feed on. 12 Mission Time: 3 minutes Survivors Briefing The world has turned to... well zombies. Gone are the fun filled days, now everyday is a fight for survival. Everywhere you go staggering corpses are fighting to eat your brains or infect you. Most of your friends and family are already dead, some walking, some not. You and your small group of survivor must hold on as long as you can against the never ending Zombie horde. The only thing going for you is we have automatic weapons and they don t. Now I pray the Zombies don t out number our ammo supply. There is an ammunition box nearby; we need to get this as soon as possible. Objectives: Kill as many Zombies as possible and survive for 3 minutes against the Zombie horde. Zombies Briefing Brains, Brains BRAINS! You have been driven mad by the infection; all you can think of is Brains and spreading the infection. You don t fear dying, you are already dead, and you can respawn as many times as you like from the infection point (medic box). You will have to get in close to infect a breather (human), they have automatic firearms and you don t. When you hit a breather your gaming guns will say Brains and when you infect a survivor, your gaming gun will say Brains, Brains, BRAINS Objective: Kill all the survivors within 3 minutes. Overall objective: Across all the Zombie games played, try to have the highest K (Kill) count in any one game both as a Zombie and as a Survivor. Extra Kudos if by a miracle anyone as a Survivor, survives a whole mission. Field Setup: Try to find or make a defensible area that has at least 2 ways in. You can build a defensible area with a few Coleman bunkers if required. The Survivors start within the defensible area. The ammunition box (blue labelled box) is put in the halfway between the Survivors and the Zombie s initial deployment. If possible place the Zombie (Red) medic box out of sight of the survivors. Zombie s start next to the red medic box. The two team s basis should not be more than 40 metres apart. 12

13 Master Controller: Use the master controller to set the gamer time to 3 minutes. Then use the START (Radio) Command to start the game. Everyone should check that their gaming gun has started by viewing the bottom line of the LCD and ensuring it says Ready. If it is not ready, try restarting that gaming gun with the key. Running the missions. The Zombie Survival game is designed to be run 3 times with the same group of players. Each player has one turn as a Survivor and 2 turns as a Zombie. After each game keep a track of which player had the best Kill count as a Zombie and as a Survivor, then after 3 rounds, you can determine who was the best Zombie and who was the best Survivor. Make sure you view the Game Stats screen after each game to get the count rather than the Session Stat screen. The ammunition box can be carried by the Survivors but not the Zombies and only by a living Survivor. If you are running on a large field, you might want to extend the game to 4 or 5 minutes each. The gaming guns are preconfigured: Survivors: Blue headband, blue muzzle flash, blue hit light, team A, standard difficulty level, non zombie game mode, medium volume, Rifle, G36 emulation, medium range, US English Female. Blue Bandanna, 10HP Zombie: Red head band, brains Bandanna, red muzzle Flash, red hit light, standard difficulty, zombie game with haunted, Zombie team 2HP (Zombie). The master controller should be preset to a 3 minute game, US English female. Boxes 1 x medic box set to team B, unlimited respawns, locked mode 1 x ammunition box set to team A, with 10 reloads. 13

As soon as the game starts, shoot the top of the domination box and make sure it is flashing Red. If at any time the Zombies shoot the box, it will change to Blue, shoot the box again as soon as possible making sure it is flashing red. There is a timer for each team in the box showing how much time in control, the aim is that the A team (survivors) has a lot more time on the clock than the B team (Survivors). Only the Ammunition box can be moved. Objectives: Stop the Zombies overrunning your base and controlling the domination box and make sure you have control for the domination box for as much time as possible. Zombies Brains, Brains BRAINS! You have been driven mad by the infection; all you can think of is Brains and spreading the infection. You don t fear dying, you are already dead, and you can respawn as many times as you like from the infection point (medic box). You will have to get in close to infect a breather (human), they have automatic firearms and you don t. Make sure you have control of the domination box for as long as possible during the mission. Zombies cannot move any boxes. 14

15 Overall Objective: In this mission the objective is to control the domination box longer than any other team controls the box in the standard set of 3 rounds. At the end of the mission, the domination box will say how much time a team won by. The A team is the Survivors and the B team is the Zombies. To commence domination, a player has to shoot the box. Since the domination box is in the Survivors base, they should shoot the box as soon as the mission starts. While the Survivors are in control, the box will flash RED and while the Zombies are in control, it will flash Blue. When the game is over, typically after 5 minutes, the winning team will be shown. There is no point a player shooting the box if their team already has control. Running the mission Make sure the Domination box and Ammunition box is restarted with the key and then the main button pushed before each game so they are ready for the next game. Make sure they are in the right position. Neither team can the move the Domination Box or medic boxes, only living survivors move the Ammunition box. The Domination box is laid down horizontally. Behind the Survivors base should be a medic box set to the A team. This will provide 10 respawns to the Survivors acting as cures from the infection. Boxes 1 x medic box set to team B, unlimited respawns, locked mode 1 x ammunition box set to team A, with 10 reloads, locked mode 1 x medic box set to team A, with 10 respawns, locked mode 1 x Domination box. 15

More, you start with a random weapon emulation, if you can get to the mystery box, you can get a new random weapon emulation, anything from a revolver emulation to a heavy machine gun! On the bottom line of your LCD, you will see the weapon mode, FA is fully automatic, SA is Semi- Automatic, SS is single shot, RV is revolver, AL is automatic loading pistol and BA is bolt action rifle. With the Single Shot, you will need to reload with the left button after each shot! With Bolt Action rifle, after each shot, you need to push the right button twice to open and close the bolt before you can fire again. Your blue team starts in your base. As soon as the game starts, shoot the top of the domination box and make sure it is flashing Red. If at any time the Zombie s shoot the box, it will change to Blue, shoot the box again as soon as possible making sure it is flashing red. Watch out, the Breathers might try to get a weapon upgrade from the mystery box, stop them. They might make a run for more ammunition, this is a great opportunity to infect them. Objectives: You goal is to overrun the Breathers position. To do this shoot the domination box in their base and make sure it is flashing Blue. When it is flashing blue, your timer is running and your opponent s stops, if the box is flashing red, they are getting time and you re not. Make sure you have control of the domination box for as long as possible during the mission. Zombies cannot move any boxes. 16

18 Infra Red Despite it being called Laser tag, the Gaming Guns actually DO NOT use lasers. Rather they emit an invisible and harmless infrared beam. Just like an oversized TV remote control. The Gaming Guns are weather resistant, However, water can still cause them to malfunction. This is why it is important that are kept as dry as possible. When playing in light rain, do not point the Gaming Guns up towards the sky or down at the ground. Also do not hold the Gaming Guns up side down. This is because water on the lens will reduce the range and water can get inside the gaming guns. Just play with them horizontally. Do not leave the Gaming Guns out in the rain when not in use. Wherever possible, keep the equipment off the ground. After use, wipe the Gaming Guns down with a dry towel, prior to packing them back in their box. This will lessen the chance of humidity getting into the gaming guns. A brief history of Battlefield UNDEAD Laser Tag" was a product created in 1986 by Worlds of Wonder. Playing outdoors with these Laser Tag toys, players shot sensors worn by other players to "tag" them. If you're tagged a certain number of times, you're out. These toys were sold through Wal-Mart (Kmart, Toys R us) and other toy stores. But Worlds of Wonder went out of business in Since then the term "laser tag" remained to be used to describe many games of the same kind. Around 10 years later, Battlefield Sports started producing commercial grade Battlefield UNDEAD equipment. That s where Zombies-in-a-Box gets its Gaming Guns from. Battlefield Sports has won lots of awards for its innovations. So whether you are old enough to remember the original toy or simply must have the latest innovation, outdoor Battlefield UNDEAD is a lot of fun. 18

19 Packing up after your event Before packing the Gaming Guns and everything back in the box you will need to ensure all the Gaming Guns are turned off with the key. The display should be blank. Count the Gaming Guns and make sure you have the same quantity as was shipped to (or collected by) you. Tick each item off your packing list. After you ve played with the equipment, you might notice some damage to the equipment. Note you are libel for any damage or loss of equipment, this will be invoiced to you. Replacement and repair costs can be found on our web site. au/content/termsconditions And au/content/ replacementcosts 19 Make sure everything that is returned is in similar condition to how it arrived. Put everything back in the boxes. The sensors remain loose in the individual packing box. Please don t wrap the cable around the Gaming Gun especially not too tightly as can damage the sensor cable. If you are returning the box via a courier, stick the return labels (the con notes the ones with the barcode) on the top of the old labels on the outside of the box. Next seal the boxes. Use the packing tape provided in your Box. Finally sign the dispatch summary form and be ready to hand it to the courier driver when they come to collect the boxes.

20 The Master Controller helps you run the games, it s the gaming gun without a sensor (no twirly cable or stickers). First turn the Master Controller on by turning the key 1/4 turn clockwise and pull the trigger. The first screen you will see is SPAWN screen, to get to a new screen, press the red or black buttons to scroll through the menu options. SPAWN (IR) Once a player is killed they can be respawned by a Master Controller set on this screen, or with a medic box. The screen shows SPAWN (IR) - if you point the Controller at a dead gaming gun and pull the trigger, the Controller will automatically re-spawn them. The player will hear re-spawned & have 2/2 HP again. The controller can also re -spawn Survivors in which case they will have 10/10HP. TIMER. Press the black button once and you ll get to the next menu screen: Set Game Timer. The default is unlimited. Pull the trigger once and the screen will show: Timed Game? Your options are: Timed / Untimed. Selected timed and pull the trigger. And the screen will show: Set Time Limit The default duration is 3 minutes. Once you are happy with the number of minutes, pull the trigger to lock your choice in. Say you choose 8 minutes. When you pull the trigger you ll see set game timer / next: 8:00 Press the black button to move to the next menu screen. START (RADIO) The next menu screen to look at is START (Radio). This option will start all the Gaming Guns at once on a brand new game, and will time the game as well if the Set Game Timer is activated. This example image shows what it will look like for an untimed game. If you have set the game time to 3 minutes, like our example above, then the bottom line on the screen will say: : RUN 3:00. Either way, once you are ready to start, pull the trigger once and you will see: Confirm START. Press trigger to make no change. Next press the black (or red button) and you will see Confirm START. Pull trigger to START Game now!. This double step prevents accidental game starts! You will now see START (Radio). Reactivates 0. MM:SS RUN 8:00. Mission Start will be heard from all the players Gaming Guns so they ll know it is the start of the game. END (RADIO) If you ve set a game time the Master Controller will automatically end all players Gaming Guns at once. With one minute to go you ll hear a short siren, at 30 seconds to go you ll hear a slightly longer siren, with 15 seconds the siren will go continuasly for 15 seconds until the mission is complete. At the end of the time you ll hear a thud, like a door closing. These second effects are also heard on the Medic Boxes (but not on the players gaming guns). Instead the Gaming Guns will say Mission Complete right at the end of the game. If you haven t set a timer and want to stop everyone at once, push the red (or black) button & scroll through till you see END (Radio) on the screen. Pull the trigger. You should see Confirm END game. Press trigger to Continue game Press red (or black) button again, you ll see Confirm END game. Press trigger to END Game now! so just pull the trigger to END. This double step prevents accidental game ends! 20

21 During the game your display will update in real time. It tracks you Hit Points and Ammo as well as how many hits and kills you have made. In the buttom left corner It will show what state it is in, like ready or Game Over. HP 3/5 (Three out of Five Hit Points) R 8/15 (Eight out of fifteen Reloads) A 19% S 2 (19% Accuracy Spawns = 0) Ready (Status, ready to play) A 18/25 (Ammo eighteen out of twenty five) H 14 K 3 (Hits 14 Kills 3) Sht 1A (Short Range Group 1, Team A FA (Full Auto which is rapid fire) After a game is completed by the game time running out or an End command from a master controller, all gaming guns will display a screen called GAME STATS. If the gamer pulls the trigger, the LCD will then show the SESSION STATS and if they pull the trigger again, it will show the standard in game screen in game over state. The Game Stats screen shows all the gamer statistics from the last game. The Session stats show all the statistics from all games played since the gaming gun was turned on. For Zombie game scoring, note the K figure on the GAME STATS screen after each game for each player. Display Description H How many hits made on opponents that did not cause death/infection K Number of kills/infections made A% Accuracy Percentage A/W Short for assist to wound ratio. Means how many hits including kills the gamer has made on opponents divided by the number of hits on this gamer. K/D Kill to Death ratio. Means number of kills made on opposing gamers divided by the number of times this gamer was killed. O O for objective. Number of times this gamer has hit the domination box causing control to change teams. S S for spawns, the number of times this gamer was re-spawned 21

22 Using The Battery Charger To get the maximum use out of the equipment, we include, for no extra cost, rental of a battery charger. It looks like, and works pretty much the same way as a phone re charger. All the Gaming Guns come charged up. So you should get around 16 hours of play time from them. But if this just isn't enough, you can re charge, & then keep on going. Please note that this just designed for a top up. To re charge from fully flat takes around 3 hours. DO NOT leave the Gaming Guns on charge for more than 4 hours. Usually a quick re charge of minutes is enough to get the party going again. How to Charge a Gaming gun Turn Gaming gun OFF with key, insert Metal Plug into the charging socket Turn the Charger on and a RED light on the charger will light up During charging the red light will remain on Once the light is TURNS GREEN the gaming gun is charged & ready. Battery Saving Tip We suggest while you are not using a gaming gun, e.g. while you are taking photos, that you switch them off with the key, to save the battery. This way you get to play longer, & a battery re charge is probably not necessary. Troubleshooting Any Gaming gun / Battle Box can be configured to act as any other. Call the office to ask us to help you walk through the steps to re set a unit. My Gaming gun will not tag another one! (FLAT BATTERY) If you display is blank, try re charging the battery. All the Gaming Guns are fully charged when we deliver them to you. To check if battery charge look at the last line of the LCD display it will show the voltage on the initial boot screen. If the battery seems to be running out of charge then simply pop the gaming gun on the charger for minutes. My Gaming gun will not tag another one! Please note that all the Gaming Guns come pre set so the red team cannot tag other red team gaming guns. Red team can only tag blue team gaming guns. The headbands show the team colours. It is possible that the headband colours have been switched, so check that on the 3rd line of the display, the blue banded gaming gun should say "1A" and the red one says "1B". If they don't say that, they should call our office for support. 22
