Welcome to your new Climatica weather station. This is Instromet s most feature packed unit to date and gives the operator access to both weather information not previously found in any Instromet weather station product and also incorporates auto sensor detection technology which makes this the most versatile Instromet weather station yet with the ability to display any of the Instromet weather sensors. This product handbook only covers the installation and use of the standard supplied system. Details regarding the installation of extra sensors can be found either via the web site or with the enclosed leaflet with each sensor. System Specifications. Display Unit size: 178mm High, 390mm Wide, & 68mm Deep Display Parameters: Wind Direction: Analogue read-out 4 cardinal points sub-divided into 5 degree increments, electronically damped. Accuracy: ± 10 degrees, resolution > 10 degrees Wind speed: Analogue read-out with gust indicator pointer, calibrated 0-90 mph, 0-80 knots and Beaufort scale. Alternative kph and metres/second scales are available Accuracy: ± 5% or 3 knots Barometer: Analogue read-out with set pointer, range mbar (28-31 inches Hg) Temperature: digital read-out in degrees F or C Range - 40 to + 50 C (- 40 to F), resolution 0.1 C Clock: 24hr time with day/month/year date

4 Installation instructions: Before getting started a small flat bladed screw driver will be required for adjusting the various screw terminal connections. Upon receipt the sensor PCB will be packaged within an anti static bag, and this will need to be removed. The PCB can then be slotted into the box and the two way plug on the trailing wire from the PSU socket will need to be connected to CON4 on the sensor PCB. The Diagram on the adjacent page shows details for attaching the sensors to the sensor box PCB. Each sensor is supplied with 25m of cable as standard and each core of the cable is colour coded to match the sensor PCB and the sensor itself. This being the case each connection made needs to be matched colour to colour at both ends of the cable, this ensures a simple to follow installation which can be done by anyone. The diagram shows the basic wind sensor being utilized with a four core cable. But the standard supply of wind sensor with the Climatica display is our temperature version with a six core cable. The extra green and white wires for the temperature need to be connected into the Air Temp connections. The wind sensor should ideally be mounted on a 25-50mm diameter pole and as high as possible and away from any thing which could obstruct the flow of wind hitting the cups or anything which could cause wind turbulence as this to could lead to incorrect readings. Other wise the only other setup for the wind sensor is to ensure its pointing North using the compass provided. For the installation of extra sensors, please see separate installation documents enclosed with each sensor. Once the sensors are connected to the sensor PCB, The display cable will also need connecting. Again this is colour coded to match the sensor PCB. The plug end of the cable will need to be connected to the back of the display and can only be fitted in one direction. The display itself can either be shelf mounted or wall mounted using the Key hole slots in its back panel. The Key hole slot centres are 292mm apart.

6 Operating Instructions: Once the display is connected and before powering up for the first time the Dip switch for the internal back up battery on the rear of the display needs to be set to on for the display to be able to store its memory in the event of a power failure. This can be found in the cut out slot next to the display cable position and is marked as the central switch on the rear panel label. This is a rechargeable battery which is charged by the display and so should not need attention. Regarding the other Dip switches only the sounder on/off and Humitter / Wet & Dry switches may need to be adjusted, the other two can be left where they are factory set. The mechanical Barometer will need to be set locally as this is only set to its mid position when assembled in the factory. Its adjustment point is next to the rear panel label through the circular hole in the back panel. Gently rotate the adjustment screw clockwise or anti clockwise to reach the desired barometric pressure. Local pressure readings can be obtained from the MetOffice web site at the below address: When the display is initially powered the displays back lighting will come on and the multi weather display will activate. Also the dials for the wind speed and direction should also start to move as long as the wind sensor is connected. Adjusting the multi weather display is done via the five end panel buttons: 1) Up - A 2) Down - B 3) Enter - C 4) Exit - D 5) Scroll The top four buttons are used to navigate the display while the bottom Scroll button is to enable the display scroll function where by it will cycle each relevant screen automatically. With the Scroll switch off the Up and Down buttons can be used to manually change screen. The diagram gives details on each screen plus its relevant button presses for each function. Please be aware that the display will only show the sensors connected. For example if no rain sensor is connected, no rain sensor display will be available. The clock will need to be set first to enable correct time keeping and also for the correct months to be displayed on the Sun & Rain screens.

8 Multi Weather Display features: The Multi Weather Display (MWD) fitted to the Climatica display has an auto detect feature which automatically displays details about any Instromet sensor which is connected to it. Below are details regarding each sensors display attributes / features: Wind Speed: Wind Direction: Air Temp: Aux Temp: Rainfall: Sunshine hours: MPH, MPS, & KPH selectable ( MWD only) Maximum gust measured Last 10 minute wind speed average X2 function for high wind events Programmable gust alarm Daily Prevailing wind direction Current temperature C / F selectable Min / Max readings On screen calibration Current temperature C / F (select on air temp screen) Min / Max readings On screen calibration User definable heading up to 8 characters Daily rain reading to 0.01mm resolution mm / inch selectable previous and current monthly totals Daily rain reading to 0.01 hour resolution previous and current monthly totals Humidity: Current humidity reading - % Min / Max readings Humitter or Wet & Dry sensor selectable Built in Dew point tables for Wet & Dry calculation. Clock: 24Hr Date day / month / year Note: When using a Wet & Dry bulb the Aux temperature display is no longer available as the display uses this reading for the Humidity calculation. If a second temperature is required along with humidity then it is necessary to use the Instromet Humitter instead of the Wet & Dry bulb.

9 Trouble shooting guide: Despite careful consideration when installing the system, if a feature does not operate as expected then please consult the notes below: Display not working: Check if the back lights are on if not then no power is getting to the display. If they are try powering down the system and then powering up again after 30 seconds. Check con4 on the sensor PCB has been connected to the PSU socket via the trailing lead. Check the colour coded connections for the Display cable are correct and that the plug end is firmly connected to the display. Check the PSU is actually connected to the wall outlet and switched on. Display is on but no sensor readings being displayed: Check the individual sensor cables to ensure they are connected firmly both in the sensor box and at the sensor. Ensure the sensor cables are colour coded correctly. Power the system down for 30 seconds before re-connecting the power to see if the sensor is then recognised. Wind direction incorrect: Check sensor arm orientation is pointing North. If all else fails call the service department on ++44 (0) or return the system to us for testing or replacement.
