We eat yummy mangoes, we sip cool drinks Joy and excitement the summertime brings! Dear Parents, It s time for summer break for our little ones and there is a lot you as parents can do to make this fun time meaningful and interesting for your kids along with keeping them busy. For your convenience we have selected and compiled some Recycle crafts which can be made with materials found around the house or items that are usually thrown away. Newspapers, plastic bottles and ice-cream sticks can all turn into works of art with a little effort and imagination. Let us encourage our little ones to help protect the environment by re -using the waste to make unique pieces of art.you may assist and help them get things together! In addition we also request you to go through the formation sheets and help your child practise writing his/her name. Also please find attached a list of suggested books for you to read to/with your child. Please note: We request you to send one recycle craft item after the Summer Vacations created by your child.

2 My Poppy Bookmarks Ice cream Sticks Craft Material Required 1. Ice cream sticks 2. Sketch pens/felt tip pens 3. Googly eyes 4. Glue/Fevicol 5. Bits and pieces of fabrics from old clothes 6. For decoration-few artificial flowers, buttons,ribbon etc. from home. 1. Cut small pieces of cloth from discarded clothes at home. 2. Take an ice cream stick/popsicle stick and wrap a piece of cloth around it using glue/fevicol leaving space for eyes and mouth. 3. Thereafter stick the googly eyes and draw the nose and lips with the sketch pen. 4. Use small buttons/artificial flowers/ribbon etc. to decorate the bookmark created. 5. Your poppy bookmarks are ready to use!! My Little Woody Chair Material Required Ice-cream sticks 2. Brown Cello -Tape 3 Fevicol 1. Place 7 sticks flat on a smooth surface. 2. Stick the seven sticks together with the help of cello-tape.seat of the chair is ready 3. Stick two pairs of sticks together at the base of the chair on either side of the seat [as shown in the photograph] 4. Make the back of the chair by sticking two vertical sticks on the two flat sticks. 5. Insert the four sticks in the seat of the chair as shown in the picture.

3 My Pretty Flower Basket Material Required 1. Ice cream sticks 2. Used clay dough box 3. Button, beads, flowers/ butterfly cut outs for decoration 4. Pipe cleaners Fevicol 1. Take a clay dough box which is empty. 2. Stick ice cream sticks all around it so that the box is not seen. 3. Now decorate it with buttons, flowers/ butterfly cut-outs. 4. Put a pipe cleaner handle. 5. Your Pretty flower basket is ready to be put on the coffee table. My zooming Glider Material required: Ice cream sticks, clip, paints, fevicol, cutter. : 1. Take a cloth clipper and color it red 2. Paste two ice cream sticks on it, and one at the tail of the clipper. 3. With the help of cutter cut the ice cream stick and paste it as a rudder on the tale of aircraft.(make sure adult help kids at this step). 4.Your beautiful ice cream stick model is ready.

4 SUNFLOWER Material Required: *Scissors *Fevicol *Icecream Sticks *Cardboard(For base) *Paint *Paint Brushes *Button *Satin Ribbon : 1.Paint icecream sticks with your favourite colour for the petals. 2.Paint few ice cream sticks green in colour for leaves.. 3.Take a cardboard to make a base for the flower. 4.Paint the cardboard with your favourite colour 5.You can decorate the base with different designs if you wish to. 6.Let it get dry. 7.Paste the icecream sticks on the cardboard in circles so as to make the flower. 8.Paste one green stick to make the stem and one stick on each side of the stem to make leaves. 9.Take a big button(preferably white) and paste it on the satin ribbon circle. 10.Paste it on the centre of the flower. Plastic Bottle Craft My Racer Rocket Material Required 1. Used plastic bottle preferably 500ml with cap. 2. Plastic bottle caps-3 different sizes and different colours 3. Acrylic paint- any colour 4. Used plastic cup-1 5. A4 size sheet-brown colour 6. Fevicol 1. Take a used plastic juice/bisleri bottle(any size) 2. Paint the bottle in the colour of your choice. 3. Let it dry completely. 4. In the meanwhile cut two triangles as shown in the picture to be stuck on the sides of the bottle. 5. Once the bottle has dried make a hole at the bottom of the bottle to fix the plastic cup upside down. 6. Stick the spare cap bottles at the front of the bottle. 7. The racy rocket is ready to zoom!!

5 Yellow Bumble Bee Material required 1)2 empty plastic bottles. 2) 1yellow and 1 back A-4 sheet. 3) Yellow tissue paper. 4) Fevicol 5) Black crayon 6) 1 black pipe- cleaner. 7) 2 googly eyes. 1) Clean the two bottle and remove the caps. 2) Fill the bottles with crumpled yellow tissue paper. 3) Cut 4 round yellow circles for the wings and 2 yellow ovals for the mouth. 4) Cut 4 black strips. 5) Stick the four wings and the black strips. Draw the mouth and eyes of the bee with the help of the black crayon. 7) Stick the mouth of the bee with the help of Fevicol. 8) Make the antennae of the bee with the help of black pipe cleaner 9) Stick the two googly eyes. The yellow bumble bee is ready! My Monster Multipurpose Hanger Material Required 1.Used pepsi /coke bottle,any colour acrylic paint 2.Child friendly scissors,paper cutter (not to used by children) 1. Cut the pepsi / coke bottle from the mouth. 2. Give it a curved shape from top. 3. Paint it with which ever colour you want to. 4. Now paint a monster face on it. 5. Make a hole so that it can be hanged if u want. 6. Put pencils/pens in it and put it in your room.

6 Bunny and Bear planters. Material required: Plastic bottles, Paints, Cardboard, Scissors, Paint brush, Fevicol. : 1. Wash the empty bottles and cut ¼ of the bottles.(make sure adults help the kids at this step) 2. Draw the outline of the bear and bunny on the cardboard and cut. 3. Paint the bottles and paste these faces on them and you decorate it more with small pots with plants. 4.

7 PIGGY BANK Material Required: *Paint *Paint Brushes *Permanent Marker Pen *Cutter/Knife *Tape *Cardboard *Fevicol *Googly eyes * Curvy Plastic Bottle : 1.Choose a bottle which is curvy. 2.Wash and dry the bottle completely before use. 3.Paint the bottle with your favourite colour. 4.Let the paint dry. 5.Using permanent marker,draw/mark the place with proper symmetry. 6.Make a hole in the bottle by cutting it from the middle to put coins in the piggy bank. 7.Makethe ears and the tail of the pig with the help of card board.paste it on the bottle with Fevicol. 8.Paste googly eyes. 9.Mark the nostrils of the pig on the cap of the bottle with permanent marker. 10.Your piggy bank is ready. Old Newspaper Craft My Favourite Wall Art Material Required 1. Old Newspaper 2. Black A3 size paper 3. Child friendly scissors 4. Feviquick/gluestick 5. Sketch Pens 1.On a small sheet of old newspaper draw simple pictures like flowers,leaves,fruits,shapes,animals etc. 2.Cut the pictures with the help of child friendly scissors. 3.Use your imagination and stick the pre-cut pictures on a black sheet of paper to make a beautiful wall art. 4.Later stick this sheet on a thick cardboard and stick a ribbon so as to use it as a wall hanging.

8 My Utility Box Material Required 1. Old news paper 2. Any old card board box/carton 3. Fevicol 4. Any thing to decorate like mirrors, beads etc. 1. First cut the card board box/ Carton into half. 2. Now make pipes of old news paper of the height of cut card board box. 3.Stick these pipes all around the box so that it s not seen. 4.Now decorate it. 5.You can use it as laundry basket, for keeping onion & potatoes in the kitchen. Cute Koala Material Required 1) 1 old newspaper 2) Fevicol 3) Black and Grey crayons 4) Two googly eyes 5) Scissors 1) Cut one small circle of the news paper for the head and one oval ( bigger than the circle )for the body. 2) Cut a pair of ears,two hands and two legs as shown in the picture. 3) Colour the legs,arms and ears grey. 3) Colour the nose black. 4) Stick the body parts together as shown in the picture. 5) Stick the googly eyes.

9 Pin Wheel Material Required: Paper : Newspaper or any used paper : Penguin on a sledge Materials required: Old sheets of newspaper, stick or a pencil, Glue stick. : 1) Roll the newspaper sheet diagonally from the corner, using the cocktail stick to get you started, so that the roll is nice and tight. When the cocktail stick starts to disappear inside the paper, gently pull it out, and continue to tightly roll the newspaper to create a long stick the first of MANY!

10 2) Flatten the stick using a hard surface. 3) Taking your cocktail stick, start to roll the flattened stick into a tight spiral, securing it with glue as you get to the end of the spiral. 4) Paste your spirals on a sheet of paper to create your own Penguin on a sledge.
