1 Summary report of the ope public cosultatio o the Evaluatio of the Machiery Directive 2006/42/EC The ope public cosultatio ra from 22 September to 16 December It was coducted i the cotext of the evaluatio of the Machiery Directive. This summary report takes stock of the cotributios ad presets prelimiary treds that emerge from them, focusig o the quatitative aspects of the cosultatio iput. 1. Objectives of the cosultatio The objective of the cosultatio was to collect iput o the performace of the Machiery Directive sice it became applicable, i The questios i the survey were orgaised by five evaluatio areas: Relevace the extet to which the origial objectives of the Machiery Directive are still relevat to the eeds of the machiery market, icludig maufacturers ad users. The two mai objectives of the Directive relate to facilitatig the fuctioig of the iteral market for machiery, ad esurig a high level of safety of machiery; Effectiveess the extet to which the two objectives of the Directive were achieved (ad factors prevetig this); Coherece the extet to which the Directive is coheret with other legislatio; Efficiecy the extet to which the two objectives of the Directive were achieved at a reasoable cost; EU added value the extet to which the Europea Directive adds value as compared to what could have bee achieved at Member State level. Respodets were free to cotribute to whichever sectios or questios they wated to ad also to complemet with a positio paper. 2. Who replied to the cosultatio? The cosultatio targeted busiesses of all sizes ad sectors (icludig maufacturers ad users of coected devices, operators ad users of olie platforms, data brokers, busiesses commercialisig data-based products ad services), but also public authorities, o-govermetal orgaisatios, researchers, research orgaisatios ad cosumers. A quarter of the busiesses ad orgaisatio that took part are SMEs. The olie survey gathered a total of 342 cotributios distributed as: 19 replied as a atioal authority 16 as a otified body 42 as idustry associatios 159 as represetig the idustry 68 as workers or cosumers 31 as cosultacy compaies or service providers relatig to machiery safety
