6 ission Specific Flight Instrument Opportuni1es ropa Instruments Solicited in 14 NASA issued an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) for science instruments that could be carried aboard a future mission to Jupiter s moon Europa. Selected instruments will address fundamental ques4ons about the icy moon and the search for life beyond Earth.

7 14 Technology Infusions: percam am builds upon the successful capabili4es strated aboard the Curiosity Rover ChemCam ent during NASA's current Mars Mission. am will use three types of laser analysis to rocks from a distance. ortant SuperCam addi4on that is not in am is the stand- off Raman spectrometry. nd- off Raman spectrometry technology was ped through a compe44ve award under the Program within NASA s Planetary Science n. nciple inves4gator of SuperCam is Roger from Los- Alamos Na4onal Lab.

8 14 Technology Infusion: L an X- ray fluorescence spectrometer, rovide capabili4es that permit more iled detec4on and analysis of chemical ents than ever before. s new x- ray focusing op4c technology was developed under the PIDDP ram will allow vast improvements in the al resolu4on and acquisi4on 4me of measurements, leading to more dent and detailed interpreta4ons of chemistry - a major leap forward in 4fic capability and value. rinciple inves4gator of the PIXL ument is Abigail Allwood from the Jet ulsion Laboratory.

9 14 Technology Infusions: ERLOC LOC, Scanning Habitable onments with Raman & inescence for Organics and Chemicals, first UV spectrometer to fly to the ce of Mars, will determine fine- scale ralogy and detect organic pounds.
