1 RIR series RIRD series INSULATI MITORING VERSIS FOR NETWORKS dc MAX V GENERAL MODELS The devices allow perent mitoring of insulati of electrical networks in directcurrent current isolated earth (IT networks). Mitoring is carried out measuring potential s variati of two polarities of network earth. Auxiliary supply is taken from underctrol network. These devices have two trip thresholds, which are adjustable by frtal micro switches, called and. This works in order to signal that insulati s level decreased under the threshold. Trip is signalled by frtal LED with indicati of polarity ( or ) that show low insulati. Remote trip threshold is carried out by double switch two relays with ctacts voltagefree. Relays could be programmed in positive safe too (FAILSAFE functi, normally excited). On the frt, there are and butts; test could be activated locally or by an external butt; push butt could be set ually or matically, either with local butt or with external push butt. Model RIRD has a mitor of insulati s level of the device by a bar. Positive and negative polarities of underctrol network have to be cnected to these terminals. Network s voltage is used for device s supply. If positive and negative has been inverted, the device would not be damaged but () and ( ) indicatis of frtal LED would be inverted too. The advice is that of making sure about the model with right functiing voltage. CNECTI TO EARTH TERMINAL. Terminal has to be cnected with protecti cductor (earth) in order to allow insulati s measure. CNECTI FOR REMOTE TERMINAL 7. In case of willing to foresee functi also from an external push butt, it s possible to cnect a pushbutt with normally open ctact NO between this terminal and underctrol network. If it s cnected to () polarity, test will cause LED, LED and () lighting; but if it s cnected to ( ) polarity, LED will light. CNECTI FOR REMOTE TERMINAL 9. In case of willing to foresee functi also from an external push butt, it s possible to cnect a pushbutt with normally open ctact NO between this terminal and ( ) polarity of underctrol network. OUTPUT TERMINAL FOR RELAY TERMINALS 678. In order to signal to exterior threshold activati, it s available a relay with double change over ctact voltagefree. The diagram shows ctacts cditi either with not supplied device or supplied at rest with FAIL SAFE functi not active (relay normally not excited). If FAIL SAFE functi is set, relay will be normally excited when there is not tripping (supplied device) and it will be back at rest in case of tripping, not supplied device or failure. Insulati resistance mitoring is carried out applying a measure s signalling in directcurrent between isolated network and earth. Surveying electric leakage set up earth it s possible to measure insulati level. Versis with fixed trip threshold are available and they are very cheap. There are also versis with possibility of adjustable calibrati of trip threshold. On frtal panel, devices have signal for activity, for (low insulati), a test butt, a reset butt (ly for versis with adjustable threshold) and a potentiometer for setting the threshold of tripping (model RIR) or micro switches (model RIR8).
