MANAGEMENT Halfway through 2011 A very busy year is already halfway over and Jotron has during the first 6 months experienced many positive events.

These tests have shown that this radio with its VoIP capabilities is a front runner both technically and operationally.

2 MANAGEMENT Halfway through 2011 A very busy year is already halfway over and Jotron has during the first 6 months experienced many positive events. We have successfully participated in two ED 137 VoIP plug tests, one in USA and one in Europe, with our TR-77xx series ground to air communication radios. These tests have shown that this radio with its VoIP capabilities is a front runner both technically and operationally. We have also made the first deliveries of our RRC-7000 VoIP remote control/miniswitch solution, both for civil and military aplications. Jotron s Satellite Communications unit has made their first deliveries, and as you read this there are several ships sailing around the world with VSAT broadband connections enabled by Jotron VSAT Antennas. Jotron has also increased its investment in this business by buying out our main partner Tronrud Engineering and Jotron now controls close to 95% of the shares. Tronrud will still continue as a strategic supplier for the Jotron Satcom Business. We are in the final approval phase for both the new AIS and the new compact 60S EPIRB. Deliveries are expected to start in August this year. Jotron Phontech is also during Q4 launching several new products which you can read more about in this edition of the Beacon. This year s event, held in Lillestrom in May, was Norway s largest maritime summit to date and demonstrated the importance of Norway as a maritime

offshore service fleet. Some 1,100 exhibitors from 53 different countries saw over 34,500 visitors in the six halls during the four days of the event.

3 EVENT NOR-SHIPPING 2011, Lillestrøm The Nor-Shipping Exhibition and Conference is one of the world s leading maritime happenings and continues to constantly grow. This year s event, held in Lillestrom in May, was Norway s largest maritime summit to date and demonstrated the importance of Norway as a maritime nation and innovator - the country is now home to the world s fifth largest merchant fleet, and one of the most modern, as well as second largest offshore service fleet. Some 1,100 exhibitors from 53 different countries saw over 34,500 visitors in the six halls during the four days of the event. The Jotron Group had invited their distributors and agents to visit the stand in Hall B where representatives from every Jotron product group, Maritime Products, Phontech Communication Systems, Consultas Maritime Software and SatCom VSAT Antenna were available and keen to meet customers. The feedback from the visitors shows that Jotron has come a long way in marketing themselves and their products. Visitors were particularly impressed with the way everything was set up and the fact that Jotron had so many staff on hand with whom they could discuss their issues. The innovative new products, such as the new AIS Class A and 60S EPIRB from Jotron AS and the latest integrated communication terminal ICS 6200 from Jotron Phontech AS, were particularly well received by all visitors. Jotron also organised a boat trip on the Oslo Fjord during the night of the first day of the exhibition. 60 guests from the Jotron distributor network had turned up to what appeared to be a fairly windy and a little bit chilly trip, but the good company followed with great food and beverages made for a great atmosphere and easily made up for the conditions (we can t control everything!). 4 EVENT Sea Asia 2011 Asia s premier maritime conference and exhibition, Sea Asia 2011, had a very impressive attendance in Singapore from April. Held in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week 2011, 12,167 CEOs, Presidents, decision-makers and maritime professionals from diverse sectors of the global shipping industry, participated in what most agreed was a leading industry event. 343 companies from 40 countries exhibited. Jotron Asia represented the Jotron Group, establishing many new contacts and, just as importantly, the event allowed Jotron to maintain and build on the good relationship with existing distributors. The new AIS Class A transponder unit and 60S GMDSS EPIRB were on display, greatly impressing all distributors and customers visiting the Jotron stand. EVENT SeaWork 2011 The Seawork International Commercial Marine Exhibition and Forum is the biggest and fastest growing business to business event for the commercial marine and workboat sectors in Europe. Southampton was the venue for this year s exhibition which took place from June 14 to June 16 and attracted more than 450 exhibitors and 7,000 high calibre visitors from 40 separate countries across the globe. Throughout the three days of Seawork, Jotron UK represented the Jotron Group. Products on display included the new AIS Class A system, Tron 60S EPIRB, and Phontech talk back systems. Jotron UK enjoyed good levels of visitors both from the UK and overseas.

The order comprises the complete project deliveries of PAGA and UPS including planning, documentation, site surveys, STIPA (sound/intelligibility) measurements, installation and commissioning.

Two parts of the field are in production, Sleipner West which started production in 1996, and Sleipner East which began production in 1993.

Up to now, three new satellite fields have been connected to the existing platform infrastructure.

5 PROJECT Continuous replacements of old PAGA Systems in the North Sea! Thanks to the prolonged lifetime and connection of subsea satellite fields, Phontech Communication Systems continue to benefit from being the number one PAGA system supplier to the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea. In 2011 the Sleipner B (amplifier capacity 4.800W) has already been installed and Sleipner A (amplifier capacity W) is currently being produced. Sleipner A is scheduled for installation sometime during this Autumn. The order comprises the complete project deliveries of PAGA and UPS including planning, documentation, site surveys, STIPA (sound/intelligibility) measurements, installation and commissioning. The Sleipner gas field is a natural gas field in the North Sea, about 250 kilometres (160 miles) west of Stavanger, Norway. Two parts of the field are in production, Sleipner West which started production in 1996, and Sleipner East which began production in The field produces natural gas and light oil condensates from sandstone structures about 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) Sleipner below sea level. Up to now, three new satellite fields have been connected to the existing platform infrastructure. The field is owned and operated by Statoil and is named after the steed Sleipnir in Norse mythology. NEWS Digital sound reception system SR 8300 Jotron Phontech is in the final stages of developing a new sound reception with digital sound processing (DSP), the SR The system has been designed to receive and detect other vessels fog horns and is for use onboard ships operating with a one man operated closed bridge. The SR 8300 has been developed for optimum performance and the system has only one omnidirectional microphone/antenna. There is also an option for slave display units (SR 8300). The RRC-7700 is a touch screen device with an embedded PC and uses standard Windows application software. The PC devices are selected for their high specification to ensure optimum performance and reliability. We are currently delivering the RRC-7700 to two major customers. Babcock International Group will use the equipment to support future RAF Air Tanker Operations from RAF Brize Norton in the UK. The RRC-7700 will remotely operate and control UHF transceivers with 100W power amplifiers in Main & Standby configuration and VHF transceivers in Main & Stand- by configuration, all via a private ethernet network. At the Andøya Rocket Range in Northern Norway, the equipment will support all Sounding Rocket & Scientific Balloon Operations. The equipment will be used to remotely control and monitor Jotron VHF Airband, VHF Maritime band and UHF Military Airband base stations in conjunction with Mercury products from Trilogy Communications. All equipment is controlled and operated via a private ethernet network. The Jotron Group office in Singapore received the order through OGS Singapore to deliver products and commissioning work altogether worth approximately 4 million NOK.

7 HISTORIC Jotron Asia signs historic deal Jotron Asia signed a historic deal a while ago to deliver products from Jotrons Maritime emergency portfolio, Phontech Communication Systems, Consultas Maritime Software and Ground to Air Communication. The Jotron Group office in Singapore received the order through OGS Singapore to deliver products and commissioning work altogether worth approximately 4 million NOK. The FPSO P-63 project will be operating on the Papa Terra oil field of offshore Brazil for Petrobras. The order represents a considerable breakthrough for Jotron Asia and is especially important in that we have supplied almost all of Jotron products in one single project. It is a major first but will definitely not be the last! TRAINING Training Peruvian customer As part of our after sales service, in late March, we welcomed the Peruvian Civil Aviation, Corpac SA, together with 3A Comercial SAC. and Sistemas Control e Ingenieria SAC to a training session with Jotron AS in Tjodalyng, learning the skills of the Jotron VHF Transceiver. Jotron has as of 23 June 2011 been issued the approval certificates for delivery of its GMDSS products, where Jotron now can provide the well known Jotron EPIRB Tron 40S MkII and Tron SART20 to all

Jotron has as of 23 June 2011 been issued the approval certificates for delivery of its GMDSS products, where Jotron now can provide the well known Jotron EPIRB Tron 40S MkII and Tron SART20 to all vessels classed by the Russian River Register. Jotron Phontech is also in the process of obtaining the RRR approval and certificate for its Command and Intercom System (CIS), Batterlyless Telephone System (BTS) and Public Address System (SPA).
