2 The level 1 dataset will be different for the two missions data with airborne instrument prototypes is much more informapve about the signal that will actually be observed. We thus need to build a test database with actual observapons to prepare our future analysis of EarthCare data. That will contribute to : spmulate new ideas of geophysical informapon that can be extracted from EarthCare mission help in future algorithms development prepare the French contribupon to validapon plan of the EarthCare mission. In this work package we will prepare an airborne data set.

3 Main tasks related to the airborne dataset Prepare the RALI instrument for the collecpon of an EarthCare- like dataset (ongoing): ensure that the 3 beams of the Doppler cloud radar RASTA are integrated and validated using MT- MALDIVES- HYMEX- HAIC experiments and evaluate the HSR measurements recently collected in December 2010 during the LNG validapon experiment. Conduct the field experiment Process relevant RALI + in- situ microphysics cases to build a database of reference cases for the preparapon and validapon of EarthCare Doppler radar and radar- lidar cloud algorithms The data collected by RASTA during MT- Africa MT- Maldives and HYMEX are currently being analysed. Analysis of the data collected during the 2010 LNG campaign has started.
