3 Introduction The Seoul Semiconductor MicroDriver 1430Lm demonstration board has been developed to evaluate the performance and demonstrate how to design and using the MicroDriver. This Module provides less than 10% flicker and 0.9PF. This module has Leds that have 80CRI and a color temperature of For other CRI or colors please contact Seoul Semiconductor sales staff. This demonstration board uses mid power MJT 3528(SAW8A32E-E1) leds. The PCB is designed to enable phase cut dimming. For full understanding of the design please review the MicroDriver data 3

6 Component Functional Description Topology and Fundamental Operation The MicroDriver uses a patented Seoul Semiconductor AC Topology using low frequency current steering without the use of magnetic components. During the peaks of the sinewave energy is stored in an electrolytic capacitor. The stored energy is used to power the Leds during the trough between the peaks to provide an equivalent dc flux to provide very lower measured ripple. The MicroDriver supports both leading Edge and Trailing edge dimmer compatibility Bleeding Function This module includes a bleeding functions which enables operation with multiple dimmers. In Analog Dimming Mode, bleeding functions are disabled, and bleeding functions are enabled in TRIAC dimmer mode only. The main functions provide the dimmers with sufficient current to maintain the minimum holding current for various Triacs and to simulate filament turn on current for some active smart dimmers in common use. Thermal Shutdown This module includes a thermal protection function. This protection protects the module from overheating caused by excessive power dissipation. An internal temperature sensor continuously monitors the junction temperature. If the temperature exceeds about 160 C, the LED current will be reduced to the half of the total current. 6
