3 Intensity Intensity PRODUCT DATA SHEET Dimming Information Dimming Protocol: 1-10V/0-10V (IEC60929 Annex E) Dimming Profile: Linear Dimming Compatibility: XIM is compatible with a wide range of 1-10V sink dimming systems from leading industry manufacturers. Potentiameter 100k Ohm Compatibility The following graphs show how the 1-10V control voltage is converted to the commanded intensity. The graph on the left shows the entire intensity range. The graph on the right shows the 0 2% intensity range and shows the hysteresis of the intensity response to the 1-10V voltage. When the light is off (intensity is ), then the 1-10V voltage must be set to at least 0.75V in order to turn on the light. When the light is on, then the 1-10V voltage must be set to less than 0.5V to turn off the light. When the light is on and the 1-10V voltage is between 0.5 and 1.0V, the intensity will be 1.. When the 1-10V voltage is greater than 9.0V, the intensity will be 10. 5 Over Temperature Protection LED luminaires are designed to operate within a specific ambient temperature range. Occasionally the ambient temperature will exceed the design temperature. For example, if insulation is unintentionally placed on or near the luminaire. Additionally, the thermal management system (e.g. heat sink) may get installed incorrectly, which could increase the LED module s temperature above the recommended limit. In these cases, the performance of the electrical components (LEDs and driver electronics) are placed at risk. To address this risk, XIM features over-temperature protection. XIM contains a temperature sensor, that monitors the Tc of the LEDs. If the temperature exceeds 93 C, XIM s integrated electronics reduce the intensity which then lowers both current and the temperature. The intensity is reduced to 85% of the commanded intensity over a period of 60 seconds. If the temperature drops below 93 C, but stays above 85 C, XIM will maintain the intensity at the reduced level. If the temperature drops below 85 C, XIM will increase intensity back to 10 of the commanded intensity over a period of 60 seconds. The Thermal Overload diagram below illustrates this behavior. 6 If the module temperature stays below 98 C, but stays above 93 C for 5 minutes, XIM will immediately limit the maximum intensity to. The intensity limit will stay at even if the temperature drops below 85 C. To remove the limit, the user must set the commanded intensity to (turn off the light) and the temperature must be below 93 C. Then, when the user sets the commanded intensity to above (turns on the light), XIM will set the light to the commanded intensity (no reduction). A power cycle of XIM will also remove the limit. The Thermal Overload Lockout diagram below illustrates this behavior. If at any time, the module temperature exceeds 98 C, XIM will immediately turn off the LEDs. The LEDs will stay off even if the temperature drops below 85 C. To turn on the LEDs again, the user must set the commanded intensity to (turn off the light) and the temperature must be below 93 C. Then, when the user sets the commanded intensity to above (turns on the light), XIM will set the light to the commanded intensity (no reduction). 8 Recommended LED Module in Luminaire Specification Physical Characteristics: LED module shall be Corrected Cold remote phosphor, nominal 50mm (1.97 ) diameter, and 20mm (0.79 ) in height. Performance: LED module shall have a CRI (Ra) 83. CRI values shall be ±3 points initial. LED module color points shall be within 1 x 2 SDCM initial. Flux output and color point shall be tuned at a minimum of 70 ºC (±5ºC). Dimming Performance: Module shall be 1-10V/0-10V, compatible with IEC60929 Annex E. Module shall dim to 1.
