Cable-riven SE alo allow flexible intallation an remote torque tranmiion, etc. However, there are till challenge for the impeance control of cable-riven SE, uch a the reuce banwith caue by the elatic component, an the performance balance between reference tracking an robutne. In thi paper, a velocity ource cable-riven SE ha been et up. Then, a tabilizing egree of freeom (-DOF) control approach wa eigne to eparately purue the goal of robutne an torque tracking. Further, the impeance control tructure for humanrobot interaction wa eigne an implemente with a torque compenator. Both imulation an practical experiment have valiate the efficacy of the -DOF metho for the control of cable-riven SE. I. INTRODUCTION Phyical human-robot interaction ha become ignificantly more important in recent year an i now a major focu in robotic an control. Safety an compliance houl be coniere in it eign proce. SE, firt introuce in [], how a number of benefit, uch a great hock tolerance, accurate an table force control, afety an energy torage, etc. Thu, SE have been wiely employe in variou phyical human-robot interaction application to improve afety an compliance [] []. Cable with low weight to length ratio can change the force irection intentionally an eaily, enable torque tranmiion to a remote itance with le energy lo an pace occupation [], [], an allow etachment of the actuation motor from the robot frame [7]. Beie, cable actuation can be a afe olution in human-robot interaction ue to it uniirectional force contraint an property of breaking when the tenion exceeing a certain threhol. Thu, Many phyical human-robot interaction application have aopte cable actuation for force or torque tranmiion [7] [9]. cable-riven SE can combine the avantage of SE an cable actuation. SE are initially eigne to output a eire torque. Different torque control metho have been evelope to achieve high performance for ifferent SE. In [], Robinon introuce a PID control metho to explicitly illutrate the concept an performance of SE. Subequently, a lot of reearcher have mae important contribution to PID bae SE control [7] [9], [], []. In [], [], [], iturbance oberver (DOB)-bae control metho have alo been aopte to enhance robutne. Wyeth propoe a cacae torque control metho with an inner velocity loop to overcome nonlinearity problem []. Impeance control i a funamentally important trategy to regulate the ytem compliance, epecially for phyical human-robot interaction. The impeance value in one ene repreent the ynamic relationhip between the interaction force/torque an the motion. Different impeance value are neee for variou interaction tak with ifferent people. torque-impeance cacae control tructure ha been applie [9], [] an achieve goo performance. Horowitz reveale that the conventional -DOF control configuration wa unable to cope with the two problem of achieving a eire tracking an attaining goo robutne at the ame time, but the -DOF control tructure coul achieve thee two goal imultaneouly []. The reaon i that the -DOF control tructure provie an inepenent way to optimize iturbance/noie rejection an improve tracking repone. Theorie an practice about the -DOF control can be foun in [] []. Detaile imulation reult of torque control uing the -DOF control metho for a cable-riven SE have been preente in our previou work [9]. In thi paper, we eign the torque controller uing the -DOF control tructure to track torque reference ignal, eliminate iturbance an noie, an further, to improve banwith. The impeance control tructure for human-robot interaction i then eigne bae on the -DOF torque controller an implemente with a compenator. The paper i organize a follow. Section II ecribe the harware platform an moeling of the eigne cable-riven SE. Detail of the controller eign are given in Section III. The - DOF torque controller performe well in the preence of noie, iturbance, motor aturation an moeling uncertaintie. Experimental reult emontrate that the -DOF controller brought better robutne than the PI controller. It i convenient to ajut thee competing performance. Further, the impeance controller for human-robot interaction wa eigne an implemente with a torque compenator.
