3 Referene Guide At 3 Legged thing we believe in giving you the very best in funtionality without ompromising on apability or performane. As suh, we offer the three leg angles that we onsider to be optimum for using a tripod. They are 23, 55 & 80. Eah angle has its own merits. 23 is the angle usually assoiated with normal tripod use is more ommonly used for speialist appliations suh as Maro Inverted mode or Tri-Mono mode. 80 enables the user to get low to the floor without inverting the amera. 4 a Key Features We try and do things a little differently at 3 Legged Thing, so you may find some features that you aren t familiar with... b d e The Tri-Mount plate (a) omes with three extended spurs and a narrower plate setion, so that you an still ounterfold your legs with the olumn removed. You an also lip your strap to the plate, and to the D-ring at the bottom of the olumn, so that you an transport your tripod easily without a ase. It also has six, tapped 1/4 holes (b) for mounting magi arms, mirophones and other aessories. Traditional tripods use a spring hook at the base of the olumn. We use a D-Ring () as they provide more versatile use. The D-ring also serves to hang your EVO3 bag on. The new bag an simply roll up and go in a poket or in your amera bag, or, using the arabiner (d), the two D-rings on the bag an be lipped to the D-ring on the tripod to make a useful ballast bag (e).

5 Basi Funtionality 3LT tripods are hugely versatile, and an be used in a number of different ways. In order to ahieve this, there is some basi funtionality that you need to understand. How to remove the entral olumn*. 1: Underneath the tripod olumn is a D-Ring (a). This unsrews from the bottom of the entral olumn. One removed, undo the ollar (b) by one full turn and the entral olumn () an be pulled straight out. Continue to undo the ollar and remove it. a b 2: At the top of the entral olumn is the Trimount plate (d) whih an be unsrewed and removed, and then srewed diretly onto the tripod (e). Unsrew the threaded bolt from the olumn and srew diretly into the mounting plate. d e To line the spurs of the Tri-mount plate up with your legs, or between the legs, srew down to the desired angle, and then srew the opper loking ring (f) upwards until it loks against the Tri-mount plate, holding it in position. f *Using the tripod without the entral olumn inreases rigidity and stability.

6 Basi Funtionality ontinued... How to detah the monopod leg. The monopod leg is denoted by a thin opper ring on one of the leg hinges and an be unsrewed diretly from the leg hinge (a). At the top of the entral olumn is the Tri-mount plate and threaded bolt (b) whih an be unsrewed and removed, and then srewed diretly onto the monopod leg (). a If you understand these basi funtions, you will be able to use eah of our tripods in all ompatible modes. The threaded bolt has two different sized ends. If you are mounting diret to another head, like the 3LT AirHed range, then you need the wider end (3/8 ) to be visible by about 1m (0.4 ). If you are mounting diret to amera, then use the smaller (1/4 ) end. b

7 Leg Mehanism & Maintenene We ve dispensed with the onventional frition lok and introdued a brand new Paralell loking system, for greater seurity and ease of use. b Our new Para-loks work by restriting the opening movement of the frition lok, preventing you from aidentally unsrewing the lok until the leg setion detahes. a We have, however, made it possible for you to undo the lok so you an perform routine maintenee to your tripod. The Para-lok is formed of a frition lok (a), and a ap (b). The ap has a thin edge - if you hold the frition lok firmly, and unsrew the ap until it detahes from the mehanism, you an then unsrew the frition lok and take the leg apart. We have hanged the internal struture to inorporate our new single hiken lips (), whih remain attahed to the tube unless you physially remove it. To replae it, simply streth over the top of the tubing and push fit into the holes (d). Clean out your leg loks using warm water (without detergent) and a brush for the threads. Dry thoroughly before reassembling. Make sure you tighten the frition lok before srewing the ap bak in. d

8 AirHeds and Release Plates Evolution 3 AirHeds have a irular lamp design, to make them easier to stow when ounterfolding the legs. There are two basi lamp types - Pano & Standard. Both lamps have a loking knob( a) for releasing the Peak Design Compatible Quik Release Plate. The Pano-Clamp also has a opper knob (b) whih loks and unloks the panning funtion. a b a The new release plate () is designed to be ompatible with all Peak Design Capture produts. Refer to your Peak Design instrution manual and warranty for uses and limitations. d d One you have attahed your new Peak Design Compatible QR3P Plate to your amera, with the inluded tool, mount your amera leaving the bubble level visible, testing before letting go. NEVER undo any of the knobs without holding your amera. If your head has both blak and opper knobs on the lamp, it an pan from both the lamp and the base, enabling seemless, flat panning for video and traking. The asing has two knobs - a smaller pan lok (unseen in the images opposite) for the base, and a large ball lok (d) whih is the main loking ontrol.

9 AirHed & Pano-Clamp Funtionality b Under your release plate is a entral bolt with a hex srew (a). If you undo this srew with the tool provided, you an detah the whole lamp from the ball shaft, leaving the entral hole open (b). The internal thread is now 3/8 and so an be mounted on your monopod leg or diretly to your mounting plate(). The AirHed Mohawk does not have a Pano-Clamp, but the irular lamp will still detah and is useful as a quik release mehanism for your monopod, or monopod leg. a

10 AirHed Capabilities Your AirHed has apabilities rated in three different ways. Head apabilties should not be onfused with tripod apabilities. Care should be taken to understand the differenes before using the produt. Diret Load: With the head level and the lamp level, a diret downward load an be applied up to the apaity. Drag: Drag is the load it requires to make the ball move within the head. This is tested by angling the ball and adding pressure until the ball moves. Don t do this when attahed to a tripod - your head is a lot more powerful than any tripod an withstand. Portrait: When the lamp is loked sideways in the portrait position, this is the load that the lamp an hold without rotating or moving. Basi Rules: When mounting your amera to the head, hold the amera until suh time as you are ertain it is loked in plae. Do not overload your head, or load it up without onsideration of the entre of gravity. Try to balane the weight of your amera and lens so that it is evenly distributed.
