2 NEW ZEALAND S LARGEST ART COMPETITION Painting, Woodwork, Glass, Ceramics, Photography Welcome to the Art Competition 2014 We are on the move again.. We are pleased to announce that due to the huge number of visitors to the Art Exhibition last year we are moving to the larger exhibition halls in the Logan Campbell Centre. Please remember this is not a Selected Exhibition, ALL ART IS DISPAYED unless it is oversized or offensive or does not meet other rules of the exhibition. Painting Section The Easter Show Art Exhibition is going from strength to strength, with 2013 being our best to date. Sales exceeded expectations, and there were record numbers of visitors viewing the show. This annual event is fast becoming a showcase on Auckland s Art calendar with many new and exciting artists displaying their work. We invite you the Artist to assist us in making 2014 even bigger and better. Remember all received work is displayed unless offensive or over-size. Regards John Towers Photography Section The Photography section last year put on a very impressive exhibition. The responses to the four themed classes were overwhelming. Entries were exciting and innovative. With that in mind I have decided to continue on with a similar format and look forward to enjoying great new images. Regards Jenny Locke-Forbes Ceramics Section Ceramic crafters welcome to the biggest art exhibition, hope you can join us by entering your works of art. The theme for this year is ANYTHING GOES now that should get your minds working. We will still be having our normal classes eg 1 Ceramic - Slipcasting; 2 will be Show Theme Anything Goes ; 3 Pottery, High Fire, Hand Built, Paper Clay, Raku: 4 is Open Youth Art, this is a good one for up and coming artists. Please note there will be no free entries this year; all entries will be judged in competition was a good year as far as sales went. We held prizegiving in the actual art hall which was great and have had good feedback so 2014 will be held along the same lines. Entries fees remain the same as 2013 which is good. That just about sums it all up, hope to have you all back this year and lots of new entries as well as we will have more space to display your creations and works of art. Lets get potting, glazing and firing. See you on Opening Night. Regards Marilyn Duke Woodcraft Section The nine Woodcraft classes include traditional woodturning, artistic woodturning, carving, small boxes and other hand-made wooden items a great array which gives woodcraft a well-earned place in the Art Hall. We encourage more entries to challenge the standards of yesteryear and set new goals for the future. The excuse that I can never beat. will only be proven when you enter your work. With more than 30 prizes on offer more than half of the entrants get some reward for their efforts although it is surely reward enough to have your work on display in New Zealand s largest art exhibition. Regards Dick Veitch Glass Section Once again the Glass Section will comprise of two areas; Decorative & Sculptural and Wearable Glass. Now is the time to commence planning and designing your entries. This is one of the standout opportunities of the year to display your skills and sell your work. We are looking forward to presenting a wide cross section of glass art including hot/blown glass, cast, fused/kiln formed, stained glass mosaic and lampworking. Let's put on the best display ever; this can only be done with your participation. Regards John and Frances Hanson We look forward to receiving your entries and work.
