2 Level of difficulty: the Lacy scarf is in a very pretty stitch which is easy and knits up quickly and the Twist Stitch rib scarf is completely straightforward (and reversible!), with a twist every 8 rows. The mittens are easy and the gloves just a bit more fiddly, to make the fingers, but this is an ideal project for someone wanting to try gloves and will be very satisfying! This set of twist-stitch rib or lacy scarves, along with mittens and gloves for all the family, is a great way to keep warm stylishly for the winter. The lace pattern for the scarf is lovely and would work as well in a summery yarn like one of our Blue-faced/flax blends, for a light and airy fashion accessory to use for any time of year. Everything is knitted in Yarns Double Knitting yarn, with 150g needed for the lacy scarf, 200g for the rib scarf, 50g for children s and 100g for adult gloves and mittens. The pattern includes knitted cuffs on the scarves, with buttons, so the mittens or gloves can be attached (so you will never lose them!). The gloves are in stocking stitch, and the mittens have a twisted rib panel, which can also be included on the gloves if you like. If you prefer to lose gloves and mittens, or not to make them, omit the cuff instructions and lengthen the scarves by the amounts shown! Gloves and mittens are knitted in the round, but could be easily knitted on 2 needles and instructions are given in [square brackets]. Measurements Girls Scarf: 130 cm/51 long, 23 cm/9 wide Ladies scarf: 166 cm/65.5 long, 30 cm/12 wide Boys Scarf : 130 cm/51 long, 14 cm/5.5 wide Mens Scarf: 162 cm/64 long, 20 cm/8 wide Gloves and Mittens (Approx measurement around hand) Children s: Medium 13.5 cm/5.5, Large 15.5 cm/6 Adults: Small 17 cm/6.75, Medium 19cm/7.5, Large 21 cm/8.25 General Pattern Instructions Where there is more than one size, directions are given for the smallest size with larger sizes given in (brackets, in bold or italic). Gloves and mittens are knitted in the round, but could be easily knitted on 2 needles and instructions are given in [square brackets]. If only one set of instructions is given, it applies to all sizes. Gloves are worked in st.st, while the mittens have a twist rib pattern on the back, but this can be worked on the gloves if wished: just follow the Pattern Set Up row after the cuff has been worked. Stitch on each end of scarf in the centre of the cuff, place button over the top of the small stitched on piece, one button each side and sew in place: the added piece will strengthen the rib under the buttons. Care advice: Hand wash in cool water using a liquid wool wash. Spin dry. Do not tumble dry. Spread on a towel, hand pressing garment to shape and correct size. Store folded.
