Tension (in st-st) 4-ply: 28 stitches and 36 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 3 1/4 mm (US 3)needle. Double knitting: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 4 mm (US 6) needle. *The pattern is written using the terms larger and smaller needles. If you are knitting for a doll/0-3m baby use DK yarn and 4mm (larger) and 3¼ mm (smaller) needles as listed in materials. For the doll/newborn baby use DK yarn and 3 ¾ mm (larger) and 3 mm (smaller) needles. For the doll/newborn baby use 4-ply yarn and 3 ¼ mm (larger)and 2 ¾ mm (smaller) needles.* 2

5 Making up Sew sleeves into place. Join sleeve and side seams. Sew buttonband in place behind buttonhole band. Sew on buttons and any embellishments desired. Use embellishments to hold ribbon sash in place at centre of front. Jacket Back on 55sts and work as follows: Break C1 and join in MC and work 2 rows in st-st. Button band Using smaller needles and C1 starting at top of neckband pick up and K 48sts down lh front edge. Work 5 rows g-st. Buttonhole band Using smaller needles and C1, starting at bottom edge of rh front pick up and K 48 sts up rh front edge. Work 3 rows in g-st Next row: K3 *yfwd, K2tog, K8; rep from * to last 5sts, K2tog, yfwd, K3. K 1 row. Making up Sew sleeves into place. Sew sleeve and side seams. Thread ribbon through eyelets for tying. Add any desired embellishments. Bonnet on 55sts. P1 row. K 1 row. Break C1 and change to MC. Work 2 rows in st-st. Cont in fairisle panel 1 (rows 6-18) for 13 rows. Cont in MC work in st-st for 18 rows.(ending on rs row) (Ws now rs) Cont in lacy pattern as for back of dress for 16 rows. Work 2 rows in st-st. Decrease 1 st row: K6, *K2tog, K5, rep from * to end (48sts) 2 nd and alt rows: P 3 rd row: K6, *K2tog, K4, rep from * to end (41sts) 5 th row: K6, *K2tog, K3, rep from * to end (34sts) 7 th row: K6, *K2tog, K2, rep from * to end (27sts) 9 th row: K6, *K2tog, K1, rep from * to end (20sts) 10 th row (alt): P10, fold work in half so that right sides are folded facing each other and 2 rows of 10 sts on 2 needles are placed together. Take a spare needle and K into 1 st st off each needle and work together. Do this with 2 nd st off each needle. Cast 1 st st off over 2 nd as usual when casting off. Work along rem sts in this way so that all sts are cast off and neat seam is formed along back of bonnet. Neck edging Fold bonnet front so fairisle panel is facing out on the front edge. With right side facing and using smaller needles pick up and K 27sts along neck edge from front edge to centre back, and 27sts from centre back to front, working through 2 layers at front edges. Work 5 rows in g-st. Making up Sew on ribbon to front edges and add any desired embellishments. 6
