1 Fidget Spinner Pocket Snap Tab Tutorial Decide on your thread colors before stitching. For best results, I recommend you match your pocket top stitching, final outline color and bobbin thread colors. STEP 1: Load the design into your machine. Hoop tear away stabilizer or your stabilizer of choice into your hoop. TIGHTLY, tap on it like a drum after it s hooped. If you don t hear the sound of a drum, or it feels loose, then tighten your hoop screw and try again. Run the first step directly onto your stabilizer. Page 1 of 7

LOL Make sure you are covering the placement stitch leaving about 3/4 on each side around placement stitches except for the top part

2 STEP 2: Lay a piece of vinyl (or your fabric of choice) down over the pocket placement area. I like to find a piece with a straight edge and only lay it over the line slightly so I don t have to trim after. LOL Make sure you are covering the placement stitch leaving about 3/4 on each side around placement stitches except for the top part unless you WANT to cut. Tape securely. Run the second step which secures the top of the pocket. STEP 3: Run the next steps onto your pocket and STOP before the final outline step. Page 2 of 7

(This is optional but it will save you a TON of time trying to pick out the placement stitches from the final outline stitches.) Do not cut too much and do not loosen your stabilizer.

3 STEP 4: Next, remove your hoop from your machine (do not unhoop your project from the hoop itself!) Using your tool of choice (x-acto knife, scissors, seam ripper) do some Katherine s Crazy Cutting and cut the area of stabilizer out around the remaining area of the placement stitch. (This is optional but it will save you a TON of time trying to pick out the placement stitches from the final outline stitches.) Do not cut too much and do not loosen your stabilizer. You will thank me for this tip if you do one without Katherine s Crazy Cutting! LOL This is also a good time to trim up the top of your pocket if it was not a straight piece of fabric at the top. + STEP 5: Next, flip your hoop over to the back side and tape down two pieces of vinyl wrong sides facing together, right sides facing outwards and tape them down securely. Make sure they cover the entire design area by at least ¾ around all sides. Page 3 of 7

You can also take a piece of clear tape and tape down the edge between the stabilizer and pocket where it is going to stitch. There are also attachments you can buy for your machine.

4 STEP 6: Return your hoop to your machine and run the final outline step. (TIP, should your machine not be able to handle the step up between the stabilizer and the pocket, many machines allow you to raise your presser foot to help with this. You can also take a piece of clear tape and tape down the edge between the stabilizer and pocket where it is going to stitch. There are also attachments you can buy for your machine. You will likely be just fine though, I have only seen a few people have this issue ever.) STEP 7: Remove your hoop from your machine, unhoop your project from your hoop, tear off any visible stabilizer, fussy cut around whole project leaving an even border around the whole design. I like to only use the bottom half of my scissors turning my project with the opposite hand and keeping my scissors turned slightly outward as I cut. This helps keep an even cutting line for me. Do NOT pierce your pocket hole through the whole design, lift your pocket up and pierce from the inside of the pocket to the front outside of the pocket. Insert snaps into thoses two holes from the back to the front. Add one male and female counterparts of your snaps to each snap shaft and secure with your tool of choice. I used KAM snaps for mine size #20 standard prong. Page 5 of 7

STEP 9: Next, you have a few choices. In the photos below you will see I used a rivet for my tab. I really like rivets. I m new to using them, but I really love how secure my tabs feel with them.

) I just inserted a ¾ opening-size D-ring swivel lobster clasp over my tab, folded it over towards the back side of my pocket snap tab, pierced a hole through both layers with my leather punch,

I LOVE new gadgets and this one is a keeper for sure! Your other choices are to use snaps of your choice, sew closed or whatever your creativity comes up with!

6 STEP 9: Next, you have a few choices. In the photos below you will see I used a rivet for my tab. I really like rivets. I m new to using them, but I really love how secure my tabs feel with them. They are super easy to install with the press I purchased from (I also purchased their 9 mm double-sided rivets and the die to go with that size.) I just inserted a ¾ opening-size D-ring swivel lobster clasp over my tab, folded it over towards the back side of my pocket snap tab, pierced a hole through both layers with my leather punch, inserted the rivet through both layers, placed a rivet cap on it, inserted it into my press and pulled the lever down without having to use force. Easy peasy! I LOVE new gadgets and this one is a keeper for sure! Your other choices are to use snaps of your choice, sew closed or whatever your creativity comes up with! Just remember on this tab if you use snaps you insert them from the front to the back (opposite of what we did on the pocket closure tab.) Also be sure to fold your tab toward the back of the design, not the front! LOL STEP 10: Insert a fidget spinner into the pocket, snap the pocket closure tab and enjoy! Page 6 of 7
