3 From the Backing, cut: (10) 7 x 42 strip, cut into (56) 7 squares Instructions All seams use a 1/2 seam allowance unless otherwise indicated. 1. Appliqué the following Heart shapes to the following 7 squares, matching centers. Stitch around the inside of the shape 1/4 from the raw edge. Sew a second line of stitching on top of the first. Clip the seam allowance of the appliqués about 1/4 apart. Referring to the layout diagram for fabric and block placement, sew the squares wrong sides together into rows. Press the seam allowance open, and then sew the rows together into the top. Press the seam allowances open. All seam allowances should be on the front of the quilt. 5. Using a decorative or zigzag stitch, sew around the outside of the quilt 1/2 from the raw edge. 6. To create the rag edges of the quilt, clip all of the seam allowances, including around the outside of the quilt, in 3/8 towards the stitching, but not through the stitching, with the clips spaced about 1/2 apart. All seam allowances should be on the front of the quilt. 2. Appliqué the following Star shapes to the following 7 squares. Stitch around the inside of the shape 1/4 from the raw edge. Sew a second line of stitching on top of the first. Clip the seam allowance of the appliqués about 1/4 apart. Place a Backing 7 square wrong sides together with the Fabrics A-T squares. Sew two lines from corner to corner on each square to secure them together.
