[Op onal] Bu ons, ribbon, or decora ve embellishments. All seams are 1/4 (6mm) unless otherwise noted. Finish raw seam allowance with serger or zig zag s tch, if desired.

2 AUTUMN SHRUG - FOR 18 DOLLS Materials & General Instruc ons Recycled sweater with at least 30 of pre-finished edge - or - 1/3 yard knit fabric. Suggested fabrics: Microfleece, Rib Knit, Sweater Knit, Light Weight Sweatshirt Fleece, Medium Weight Jersey, Medium Weight Interlock Coordina ng 100% polyester thread. [Op onal] Bu ons, ribbon, or decora ve embellishments. All seams are 1/4 (6mm) unless otherwise noted. Finish raw seam allowance with serger or zig zag s tch, if desired. Press seams a er sewing to set s tches and achieve a more polished finished piece. Pa ern prin ng: Please be sure to print at Actual Size or with scaling set to None. 3 Cu ng Cut pieces from either a recycled sweater or knit fabric. Take care to match stripes or design. Shoulder Seams With right sides together, sew front pieces to back

the edge. Then sew the seam at 1/4 with a straight s tch.

Cap Sleeves Lay shrug open and flat, right side up.

4 Shoulder Seams With right sides together, sew front pieces to back piece, aligning edges at the shoulders. Finish raw seam edges, if desired. Knit Tip: Sew pieces together with a wide, long, zig zag s tch, 1/8 from the edge. Then sew the seam at 1/4 with a straight s tch. The zig zag will stabilize the seam. Cap Sleeves Lay shrug open and flat, right side up. Place cap sleeve on top of shrug, right side down, matching and pinning midpoint of the curved top of the the cap sleeve to shoulder seam. Stretch the sides of the cap sleeve around the arm opening and pin in place.

Note: If you are not using the finished edge of a recycled sweater

knit fabrics. Most knits, such as microfleece and jersey, won t fray.

Sew the side seams from under arm opening to bo om of shrug.

5 Note: If you are not using the finished edge of a recycled sweater for the cap sleeve, you can leave the edges unfinished with most knit fabrics. Most knits, such as microfleece and jersey, won t fray. Alterna vely, you can finish the raw edge with a narrow zig zag, serging, Fray Check, or a narrow hem. Sew the cap sleeve to the shrug with 1/4 seam allowance. Repeat steps to sew the second sleeve. Finish raw seam allowance, if desired. Sew the side seams from under arm opening to bo om of shrug. Trim If using a recycled sweater, fold 24 x 1 trim strip in half, right sides together. Sew short ends together with 1/4 seam allowance. Trim seam allowance to 1/8. Open shrug, and with right sides of shrug and trim together, pin trim around shrug, aligning raw edges. Sew trim to shrug. Finish raw seam allowance if desired.

For new materials or no finished edge: Fold 24 x 2.
