1 MUDSOCK MESSENGER Meetings: 2 nd Monday of each month Fishers United Methodist Church 9691 East 116th Street, Fishers, Indiana [Website] mudsockquiltersguild.org From the President s Sewing Desk Wow! It is hard to believe that the summer is half over already. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the weather, vacations, and time to sew and quilt. We made it through the first meeting with me as the new president! Whew! We only had a few issues like being locked out of the Fellowship hall and having just barely enough chairs, but the presentation by Judy, Mary and Leigh was worth the wait! Their beautiful quilts and art pieces were inspiring! I hope everyone is working on a quilt to donate to the Community quilt project as well as their own projects. Remember the UFO challenge that Val started at the beginning of the year? How are those projects coming along? So many quilts- so little time! Just have fun and let your inspiration lead you. For anyone who wants to make a square for the special Christmas project, remember that the squares should be 6 ½ inches (finished size 6 inches) and be of a Christmas theme. I will be collecting them at the next meeting. I want to have the finished project done by early October, so I need squares in by mid- August. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting! Happy sewing! Sandy Metzger AUGUST 2017 Volume 7, Issue 8 AUGUST BIRTHDAYS Happy B-Day to: 01 Barbara Street 04 Judy Dunnigan 05 Linda Kelller 09 Fran Andrews 09 Tameria O Dell 19 Lois LeVine 22 Anita Abernathy 23 Lou Anderson 23 Kathy Zook 25 Debbie Feltz 29 Debbie Cobb 30 Sally Young Welcome to New Members! 2 AUGUST 14TH--Mudsock Quilters Guild Meeting (9:30 11:30+) The next Mudsock Quilters Guild meeting is August 14 at the usual meeting place at Fishers United Methodist Church. We will be having a presentation by Marion Newell on an organized way to take your quilt blocks from the design wall to a sewn-together quilt top. Please also bring your ideas and patterns for small projects and holiday gift ideas to share. We had a wonderful assortment of fun projects last year and we are looking forward to some new ideas this year. Hope to see you all there! Submitted by Sandy Metzger, Program Chair Quilts for Community North Hospital - Make Just One Many of you have made more than one quilt and it is sincerely appreciated. The push is on for all members who have not donated a quilt - if you turn in a completed quilt at our next Mudsock meeting on August 14th, you will be eligible for our drawing - two great prizes donated by Ericka Nickens. If you turn in more than one quilt, you will get an extra ticket for the drawing. Don't forget to put your name on your quilt and turn in any receipts for batting and backs for reimbursement. Diane Peterson (317) Community North Quilting Bee Quilt Show - December 2nd Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 2nd when we will have our first quilt show of all the quilts donated this year.
