2 FINISHED SIZE Hat: 18 circumference at rib, unstretched. 26 circumference at largest point. 9 long. Mittens: 6.25 circumference at rib, unstretched. 7.5 hand circumference long. YARN O-Wool LOCAL (50% certified organic merino, 50% locally grown alpaca; 240 yds/219m [100g/2.5 oz]); 1 skein each Color A and B; shown in Fringetree and River Oat. GAUGE Hat: 16 sts and 24 rows = 4 in Stockinette St. Mittens: 18.5 sts and 28 rows = 4 in Stockinette St. Take time to save time, check your gauge NEEDLES Hat: Size US 9 (5.5 mm): 16 circular and dpns. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Size US 7 (4.5 mm): 16 circular, or 2-3 sizes smaller than gauge needle (for rib). Mittens: Size US 7 (4.5 mm): dpns. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Size US 4 (3.5 mm): dpns, or 2-3 sizes smaller than gauge needle (for rib). Break yarn. Join for working in the rnd, being careful not to twist stitches. With Color A and smaller ndl, work in 2x2 Rib for 18 rnds. Change to larger ndl. Inc rnd: *k5, m1, k6, m1; rep from * to end of rnd. (104 sts) Next rnd: With Color A, K13, work 25 sts of Large Snowflake Chart using Roositud technique, work in St st to end of rnd with Color A. Cont in this manner, working through chart rnd 25. Dec set-up rnd: *K13, pm; rep from * to end of rnd. Shape crown: Next rnd: *K to 2 sts before m, k2tog, slm; rep from * to end of rnd.
