1 My Other Sweatshirt designed by Tonia Barry Sandpiper Sandpiper is the perfect weight for a cotton yarn: not so bulky as to be heavy and not too lightweight as to take forever to knit. The most interesting aspect of Sandpiper is its color 5 shades are space-dyed in each strand, in short bursts of color, then 8 strands are plied together. Highlights and shadows occur organically as the colors in each of the 8 plies interact. From a distance, Sandpiper looks solid colored but up close the 5 hues dance and mingle, adding depth and interest. Skill Level Intermediate Sizes XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL). Shown in size S. Hood: Join yarn to held 8 (9, 9, 9, 10, 11) right front sts and with circular needle k8 (9, 9, 9, 10, 11), pick up and knit 15 sts evenly along right neck edge, k27 (29, 31, 31, 33, 35) held back neck sts, pick up and knit 15 sts evenly along left neck edge, then k8 (9, 9, 9, 10, 11) held left front sts 73 (77, 79, 79, 83, 87) sts. Working back and forth in rows, cont in Stripe Patt 2 until hood meas 12 (12½, 13, 13, 14½, 14½)" from pick up row. BO all sts. Sew hood seam. Hood edging: With A, circular needle and RS facing, beg at bottom of right front slit and ending at bottom of left front slit, pick up and knit 98 (102, 106, 106, 110, 110) sts evenly around neck slit and hood. Pm and join to work in the rnd. Knit 6 rnds. BO all sts.
