1 TWS BRITISH STYLE WADING STACKS FOR SHERMAN III Congratulations on purchasing one of the finer aftermarket resin conversion sets available. The kit you are about to build was mastered by Karl van Sweden. Please use the following instructions as a guide as this kit is made specifically to enhance the Dragon Sherman Mk. III (#6313). Please look over these instructions as well as the Dragon instructions to get familiar with the assembly steps. The parts shown below are the contents of this kit. The part numbers are stamped on the casting blocks to allow for easier location of parts. So let s get out the superglue and begin. Watch those fingers!!! We recommend washing the parts in warm soapy water or a commercially available mold release cleaner to remove any residual mold release agent. We also recommend leaving the parts on the casting blocks until called out for. Once the part is called out for dry fit to make sure the parts fit and align properly ASSEMBLY Assembly of this kit will replace some of the Dragon parts. This kit will enable you to build a Sherman Mk. III with the British style of wading stacks. Complete the Dragon instructions up to step 3. Now we will need to get the TWS parts ready to install. On TWS part 1 remove the inner cross bar. This is there for casting purposes only. See figure 1 & 2 on the next page.

2 Remove bar Fig. 1 Fig Next you will need to join TWS parts 1 and 2 together and fill the seam with putty. See figure 3. In reality these parts are one piece but to allow for hollow castings we had to make it a two piece part. Once you have these two parts together test fit to the Dragon Lower hull. The TWS assembly should fit flush against Dragon part A53 and in between Dragon parts A Next you will want to continue building the Dragon kit up to step 7. You will now install TWS part 4 air intake adaptor. This part simply replaces Dragon parts A44/46. Two grab handles need to be installed at locating holes on the exposed intake grill. See figure 4 on next page. 4. Now that the upper hull is complete you can now test fit the exhaust adapter with the upper and lower hulls together. You should also test fit 3 each of the attachment bars for the exhaust stack, TWS parts 9. Two of the bars should be shortened by 1/16 and they will attach from the rear of the Dragon upper hull to above each corner of TWS part 1. The third bar will be positioned in the center and attach to part 1. If all fits well and your ready to attach the upper hull to the lower do so and then attach the TWS parts. 3 4 Fig Next measure 12mm to the center of the exhaust and intake stacks on the rear facing part of the stacks. Make a mark. Now measure 4mm from each end and mark. These marks are where TWS parts 8 will be installed once the stacks have been installed. See figure Now you will need to notch the attach latches where the latch would swing out of the holder. See figure 5A. You will want to install the intake stack and it s attach latches first then install the exhaust stack and it s latches. See figures 6 and 7 on the next page. 4 8 (3ea) Fig. 6 8 (3ea) Fig Next you will need to install TWS part 6 on the turret after the turret is complete per the Dragon instructions.. This is the spool for the jettison cables. You will need to measure 5mm from the flat antenna mount towards the center of the turret just below where the angle of the turret starts. See figures 8 and 9. 5 8. The final step is to install the jettison cables and the cable turn buckles. You will need to notch the end of the turnbuckle to fit the small nubs on the intake/exhaust stacks. Then using fine wire or stretched sprue you will need to run the cable around the spool and attach to the stacks using the turnbuckles. I found using stretched sprue was the easiest and highly recommend it. NOTE: once these cables are installed the turret may not rotate so now is a good time to position your turret and tack it in place. If you are able to get the cables tight but loose enough to allow the turret to rotate while the cables rotate on the spool this will also work. See figures 10 and 11. 6 9. You will need to make the rods between the stacks with the enclosed.010 brass wire or a material of your choice. The rods connect from the aft corners of the forward stack to the center nub on the rear stack. You may want to make a jig to make the loop holes to connect each rod end. 6
