1 Chamber Communicator MONMOUTH AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE February 2018 In this issue: Member of the Month ~ Calendar of Events ~ February 17, am to 2 pm Sponsored by: 1st Street Armoury 215 South 1st Street Monmouth, IL ~ Member Renewals ~ ~ Ribbon Cutting ~ ~ Midwest Article ~ ~ New Members ~ The Tac Shack State Farm Heidi Brown ~ ~ Shop Local Banner ~ KIDTROPOLIS YMCA s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting January 6th, the YMCA opened their new soft play room to the public. Kidtropolis took the place of the racquetball court and is providing a much needed area for younger children. These young ones were some of the first to experience the new room, and they loved it. You can lead a horse to water, but you can t make him drink, Our Vision The Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce works for the betterment of our progressive community. Our Mission Our mission is to provide value to our members through advocacy, leadership and service by providing a vigorous economic climate for the business community. The Chamber Communicator is published by: The Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce 89 Public Square, Monmouth, IL Amy Patterson, Executive Director Phone: Fax: info@monmouthilchamber.com Disclaimer: Views expressed on inserts in the chamber newsletter are not necessarily the view of the chamber nor is the chamber endorsing the view or product. The Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to refuse an insert. Why won t the horse drink? Is he too busy looking for grass? Does he miss his herd? Is he even thirsty? Is he worried what his friends will think if he drinks the water? Is he offended that he is being led? Does he want to find water himself? Too many times we question what is right in front of us and refuse to act. What will happen to the horse if he doesn t drink? Will he be able to break away and find water on his own? Will he die of thirst? We need to examine our motives to determine what gain we might receive. Will the leader give the horse another opportunity to drink? Is he going to punish the horse for not drinking? Will he offer the horse something else? Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome is not productive, but sometimes we get stuck into a particular way of thinking. Opportunities and choices: Every day we have the opportunity to change something for the betterment of our business, our employees, and our customers. It is also their choice to accept it. Are you a Member of the Chamber? Do you feel passionate about our community? Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce Is looking for Ambassadors If you are interested please call Amy at Page 2 MACC 89 Public Square Monmouth, Illinois (309) February 2018

AA/EOE Edward Jones, Ryan Painter "At our branch we want to build relationships with people in Monmouth and help them to grow and protect their wealth. We feel the best way to do that is to treat people the way we would want to be treated. So we are very transparent about the investments we choose, why we are choosing them and how much things cost. We also build a plan to make sure people's goals are being met. As Chamber members, we all want to see Monmouth grow and thrive. We feel like our small part is to help individuals and businesses invest and save money on taxes so they can not only enjoy those benefits, but also to give back and reinvest in the community. If you or anyone you know would like to come learn more about our business and how we might be able to help you, just give my assistant Stephanie McVey a call and set up a time. We never charge for consultations so its very low pressure. Our number is February 2018 MACC 89 Public Square Monmouth, Illinois (309) Page 7
